It's Cold!

It's been pretty cold around Michigan for a while now. Maybe most of you are fortunate to live somewhere in a southern state. Just wondering what you all wear for you're longer runs in cold weather.

I've been wearing sweatpants with a sweatshirt... it's worked out good, I get warm further into my run. I've seen people in shorts and a long sleeve shirt though. I'm interested in how this works :)

How what works?

Maybe they run like that because it's how they prefer to.

As for myself, even when it's really cold, I still wear my running shorts along with my sweater. I just don't feel comfortable running in pants.

I'm running in all temps and weather (2 rain runs in a row this week), so I went to sports authority & took a look at the body armor cold weather stuff. It was FIFTY BUCKS for each piece... we went to Target for something, and I looked in mens wear and found something like long johns, but they're more like the body armor stuff. It hasn't gotten cold enough here to use them often. Every time I have, I've actually been too warm they work so well.

I actually tried the shorts with a hoodie thing. It works surprisingly well in cold weather. I found if I wear too much, I have to remove layers as I sweat too much.

I find that lightweight long johns (not cotton but some kind of synthetic blend) with shorts on top works for me when the temps are in the mid 40s and below. On top I like to wear a zippered windbreaker or fleece, so as I get warm I can zip it down a bit.
