Sport Is yogurt Healthy

Sport Fitness
Is yogurt healthy and good for someone who is trying to lose weight? If so what brand is the healthiest and best. I love yoplait but I think it may have to much sugar.

Yogurt is very healthy. You can even mix it with stuff and freeze it in ice cube trays to make tasty post workout treats.

I usually buy the Hannaford store brand (its cheap!) or Stonyfield Farm Organic Lowfat Plain. Its simple, just yogurt, no sugar or artifical tastes added. I sometimes like to put in strawberries or walnuts.

1 cup contains
Calories 120 - From Fat 20
Total fat 2g (1.5g saturated, 0g trans)
Cholesterol 10gm
Sodium 150mg
Carbs 18g (Dietary fiber 3g, sugar 15g)
Protein 10g
40% of recommended daily calcium.

Its also good for thickening up shakes if yours need it and stuff. And even the plain tastes yummy.

Steer clear of yoplait. They don't even taste good when you think ab it. High fructose corn syrup and your right sugar. Yogurt is good. Im not a big fan anymore since most dairy disrupts digestion for me.

Yeah, yogurt is great but look at the label for sugar and sat.fat stats. Also, aside from being very nutritional, the live bacterial culteres in yougurt are great for your digestive system. I eat a brand called cascade fresh and it has great stats.

OR... you can get the nonfat yogurt. The fat free tastes just as good as the lowfat ones, and yes yogurt is great for you, especially the nonfat ones.

I just picked up some Danon nonfat yogurt and looked at the ingredients in the back...

anyways.....

Modified corn starch, Kosher gelatin and other chemicals ...

7G of sugar....

would you say that is healthy even though it's nonfat?

I get Dannons fat free plain, and if I remember right, the ingredients are Cultured Grade A milk, pectin and one other thing. I think there are three items.

I prefer this brand:

(It is rBGH-Free)

I do not have one on hand, and cannot find the ingredients list. However, there is no sugar, and all natural. Many fruit flavors. I haven't found any that match the wholesomeness of this brand yet.

I think the third thing is citric acid to perserve flavor or something like that... just went and looked...

No just yogurt and pectin...
