I am looking into whey protein shakes and drinking them for breakfast only...is this good or bad for weight loss??
It's calories. If it is more calories overall in the day than you burn then no. It's food. There isn't anything really magical about it.
I find it a great whey (sorry) to get protein when I am busy with work etc. It is very useful in shakes when you want to pack a serving of protein in quickly without trying to cook etc.
I have used it in the past very successfully to drop weight. The problem is however that as far as I am concerned it is not a substitute for eating well. Perhaps in the short term it can be used to substitute meals but long term you will not be able to stick to it and you will be missing a lot of essential vitamins/minerals etc.
