hey everyone, i'm pretty much still a novice when it comes to the gym, but this year i've really committed to putting on weight like i've been talking about doing. i'm 5'9" and my first day i got serious about the gym i weighed in at 133lbs. i have a more slender build like a basketball player. i quit smoking so naturally my appetite wasn't curbed anymore and i ate more in general, but on top of that i completely cut out the bad stuff. since i've been in the gym i haven't had sodas, candy, or anything greasy. my diet consists mostly of fruits, some pasta or noodles, a lot of protein from different sources and all i really drink is water (maybe milk once a day or so). it should also be known i haven't started using mass gainer yet. i've been consistently lifting about 4 days a week for 4 weeks now. after the first week i actually lost a pound (down to 132lbs.) i figured i had just had more fat than i thought. the second week i gained that pound back (up to 133lbs.) so the third week i started really buckling down and began eating every 2hrs. on the hour. last week i gained a good bit and went up to 136lbs. i just got back home after wrapping up the fourth week, and tonight i weighed 141lbs. so my questions are:
1. is this good weight or mostly fat? i'm still only lifting for strength at the time and i'm averaging a gain of 4lbs. a week, roughly.
2. will this leap in weight increase after i start lifting for mass and use a gainer? because i thought even 1/2lbs. a week was excellent for mass lifters.
sorry for the long, extensive post, but i thought it all just seemed a little unreal and easy for only being a month into a program. by the way, my goal weight is 160lbs. for now. thanks for your time!
