I began doing an exercise routine 2 days ago and some of it involved doing a squat and stretch with weights (5 lb) after the workout my legs felt like spaghetti and the next day I found it hard to sit and stand, it is very painful in my upper front thigh area. Now I expect pain but is this much pain normal?

I had the same thing happening to me when I started, I have no clue if it is normal, but I know it's extremely painful. For me it went away after about 2 days, so maybe it is really just sore muscles.

I just did the 30 Day Shred video on Thursday afternoon and I still ache. My thighs are totally useless now. It was really difficult to do 20 minutes on the elliptical yesterday because of of how stiff and sore I still am. I figure it'll go away eventually.

Yep Its normal.

This happens when you push too hard, too fast and is most common in people who are just beginning a workout program and overdo it on the first few trips to the gym. The symptoms are the same as in normal, post-workout soreness but with the addition of tenderness in the area of the strained muscle and painful tightness which may limit your range of motion.

Treatment
If the pain is severe, see your doctor. If it’s tolerable, try not to use the muscle and each day you should notice an increased range of non-painful motion. Stretching *may* help depending on the extent of the strain. If the soreness turns into pain as you stretch, stop and just give that muscle some time to heal. Anti inflammatory medication such as ibuprophen can lessen the immediate pain, but may also lessen your muscle gain.

My thighs are stiff from doing lunges with 8lb weights last night. Thats why your supposed to alternate work outs, upper/lower/cardio/yoga.... I will prob just do some walking today since its hard to even sit down lol. It should pass in a day or so. Sometimes 2 if you really hurt your muscles..

I find the second day out to be the worst. I just drink alot of water. You could also take a walk, even if its a light walk, it will help with the lactic acid buildup.
