or is it like weightlifting you shouldn't work out the same muscles 2 days in a row since they need time to rest and develop? and I'm not going to run every day. I'm going to try for Mon.-Fri. an hour a day - mostly walking and jogging since I'm just starting out.
Yes, running/walking is something you can (and in my opinion) do daily. Obviously you need a break from time to time, but I would run 4-5 times per week if you can.
It really depends on your physical endurance, mobility and strength levels. Walking is something you do everyday anyway, so that shouldn't bea problem. Running is where you may want to assess your starting point (physical abilities) more.
