Is running adictive?

I find myself craving to go running... similiar to the way I use to crave chewing tabacco... when the day ends and I am driving home I get this overwhelming urge to run... I get home and the kids and wife are there and dinner is about to be served... so I usually don't get a chance... plus I already ran earlier in the day... so I know I shouldn't do that to my body...

Anyways... what is the deal... am I just more obsesive compulsive than I though or is this normal...

Actually, I always crave to go running or do something active too...and I hope that's normal because I just want to get taller and fitter.

Exercise in general can be addictive for different reasons:
1. physically - release of endorphins or just making you feel "physically" better
2. psycologically - you think getting "buff" will make you more loveable"
3. psycologically - you use it to disconnect from other people/problems
As long as you are not out of control, and it sounds like you are, since you can resist the urge and spend time with your family instead, it's better than having the urge to eat Bon-Bons and sit on the couch!

I am a MUCH happier mom when I run. There is something in particular about RUNNING aside from the other sports that gives me an extra somthin somethin. My husband will shove me out the door and command me to run if I'm being a pain in the a$$! I love the kind of runs you feel like you could go forEVER. Your stride is right, breathing pattern is on, feet feel light as air and suddenly it feels like all is right with the world. LOL. Yes, my name is Sparrow and I am a runaholic.

I think I know what you mean. It may be because it is the only time that is truly your own. Sometimes I feel like there is nothing left for me between work, kids, husband etc. Not that I would give any of it up lol. WHen I run, it is just me. I find I don't like to miss even when it is 500 degrees out! I also feel great after I run, sleep like the dead too! After four kids my body is trained to wake up to the sound of a pin dropping, when I run I sleep through most of those noises!

i run all the time xD very addictive
