Is my stationary bike suitable for HIIT?

Hi, I'm new to HIIT and i own a stationary bike which looks exactly like this:

Is this type of bike suitable for hiit or do i need the bikes with magnets (the kind you see in a gym) for providing resistance?

Thank you :)

There was no picture in the link, but more importantly, what is your current fitness level? IMO HIIT is for moderate - advanced trainees not beginners (despite what you read). If you don't have a base fitness, I think you are better off building up your base fitness before you stress your body with a protocol as demanding as HIIT.

^ This.

I assume that your stationary bike has varying degrees of intensity. Regardless of whether you use a spin-bike or an electric exercise bike, if you can increase the resistance against the peddles and you can increase speed, then unless you manage to break the bike it is probably fine for HIIT. As it's already been said, make sure you have some ground-level fitness first. And I'd recommend specifically having experience using your exercise bike before using it for HIIT even if you are otherwise fit. At max effort, you want to be good at the specific activity and adapted to the mechanics of the machine.
