Is my goal realistic?

Hi. I am starting to make changes in my life by eating right and exercising. I am going to Greece at the end of June and want to get fit for the beach, and overall just to look better.

I'm 5'4" and I weigh 124. I know I am at a normal weight. But I never exercise, eat a lot of junk food, and my body isn't athletic. It is doughy, especially around my tummy and thighs. I've noticed I've gained weight specifically in my thighs because I used to weigh 117 and got stretch marks where the fat has accumulated.

I would like to weigh around 110-115 pounds, so thats only around 14 pounds to lose at the most. I have 3 months to get to my goal, and I'm wondering if that is realistic?

After getting to my goal I plan to continue to eat healthy and exercise, just not as much so I don't lose any more weight. I plan on eating around 1400-1500 calories and work out 6X a week.

Let me know what you think.

you would be very close to being considered underweight if you weighed 110-115. i wouldn't suggest you try to lose more than about 5lbs or so, if that. i think that it would be much better if you tried to gain muscle instead. you will be amazed at how your body will change with additional muscle. you would need to eat more than 1500 calories per day though. if you work hard, three months would definately be enough time to get in better shape for your trip.

I'd agree about the muscle. Developing some good muscles can add some great shape to your body.

I plugged your figures into the BMI calculator at extrapounds and it says that you are in normal range. If you want to loose some weight, I reckon if you got down to 119 and toned some extra muscles you couldn't fail to look HOT on the beach in June.

chalk another one up for muscle... Weight is just a number. but lean body mass on a girl is quite another story :)

I agree with others that building muscle is what it sounds like you would really like to change (i.e. looking overall better, not doughy). If you look at it from what you want accomplish, then you shouldn't look at the numbers ( i.e. lbs) You should look at your overall appearance. You can be 110 lbs and look horrible just as you can be 124 lbs and look great :)

take care,
Diane
