Weight-Loss

So i started my diet like 6 months ago and ive lost around 3 stones so far (37lbs) And i did this with lots of aerobics classes, walkin and was living off two meals a day. Which i now know isnt sensible so ive tried to eat more daily consisting of 3 meals and a snack. Heres what i had today;

-Breakfast- 2 wheatabix with skimmed milke est 200 cals
-Lunch- Prawn sandwich with lowfat mayo and an apple est 300 cals
-Dinner- Breaded chicken with tomatoe and basil pasta est 500 cals
-Snack- Mini rice cakes and a yogurt est 250 cals

total cals 1250 cals

I have today done two aerobics classes, walked and weight training. Do you think my diet is suitable? I cant get out of the idea that i have to eat as little as possible when i know it should be the opposite for weight loss. Any points would be much appreciated :rolleyes: thankies xxx

With just the diet alone, you seem to be eating too few calories. Check out to get a recommendation of the number of calories you need to eat. Another estimate for how many you need to eat is to reduce your maintenance calories by 30%.

On days you exercise, I actually believe you are supposed to eat more. Either way, the 1200 you're at now is too little. You should also be getting about .4g of protein for every pound you weigh.

My minimum of calories I set for myself to eat per day is 1500 (which is still too low according to most resources) and I feel like I'm literally eating all day to get that much in with my protein since I try to stick to healthy foods. Good luck with your weight loss.

Hi JadayPadey,

sounds OK to me in terms of calories.

But I would consider alkaline foods, which helped me achieve my ideal weight (and I still love the stuff :)

An alkaline diet should consist of at least 75% of alkalizing foods, like green vegetables, and never more than 20-25% of neutral and acidifying foods, like meat and dairy products (if you can not resist). And never forget to drink a lot of (alkaline) water!

Try kamut grass, barley grass, soy sprouts, alfalfa grass, cucumber, fresh wheat grass, avocados, spinach, broccoli, powdered green plants or green vegetable juices.

Wish you good luck,

Take care,
Mel
