Weight-Loss Is my breakfast actually that healthy?

Hey all. :waving:

So since starting my weight loss programme, I've changed my breakfast to something that I thought was a healthy option, but I'm not so sure when I really think about it!

Every morning I cook myself two slices of white bread toast, and poach a medium sized egg for each slice. I add a tiny bit of salt and pepper to each slice and that's it.

I've tried loads of different cereals etc. but the eggs is the only thing that seems to satisfy my appetite until lunch time and therefore stops me from snacking.

So are the eggs okay? Because I've heard so many different opinions as to whether eggs are actually healthy or not!

Thanks! :cheers2:

I think you should worry more about the white bread than the eggs :)...just my opinion. If its possible, try switching to wheat :)

Thanks for your reply!

I'll switch to brown bread, I prefer the taste of white but I guess I'll just have to deal with it! :coolgleamA:

lol, don't we all prefer white...**sigh**...its just that white bread has been stripped of its nutrition :( and basically just carbs and empty calories..............(from what I understand :) I'm no pro!! nor did I major in nutrition!!). Eventually you'll like wheat bread...I switched years ago and I don't even remember what white tastes like :)

OMG too funny. I was going to answer that I am more horrified at the white bread than the eggs.

I think eating eggs every day will eventually cause a problem. Eggs are high in cholesterol. I'd keep expermenting with foods to find other things to eat. Do you not like oatmeal, cream of wheat...?

My mother used to eat poached eggs everyday and eventually she grew an intollerance for them and is now very allergic to them.

I'd be more worried about the effects down the line with the eggs rather than the fat content of now.

My mother cut me off of white bread when I was younger than 10, so now I don't even like the taste.

And that being said, have you tried drinking milk? That's what gets me through the day.

As the others have said switch the bread, and watch out for the cholesterol with eating eggs every single day. Hope they are free range eggs. I wouldn't put anything but free range into my body, too scared of what may happen from those poor caged birds. There eggs can't be healthy if they are not happy.

My 2 cents. As long as your diet as a whole is healthy, the concern over the cholesterol in eggs is overrated. One major cause in poor cholesterol levels is a lack of proper fat intake in the form of Omega 3's and 6's. If you have that stuff squared away then you'll be fine eating eggs. I actually know a few people who've eaten eggs just about every day for years and have no cholesterol problems at all.
