is it so?

today i was talking to a friend and she was asking if hav started loosing any weight and what am i doing for it(as i am almost four months postpartum and have started exercising a week before).
i told her i do 30 mins cardio(runing/walking on treadmill)for half an hour then give half an hour to weights n doing them at home.

as i have come from 125 to 150 now with a height of 5'5 and i know its pretty too much.
she said u should continue ur cardio n leave the weigh thing,, as it is only going to make me broader and i m going to gain more weight(muscle).
i just wanted to know is it so? do u think what i m doing is wrong?

i dont follow any particular diet but i do hav a strong eye on my calorie and fat intake.

please do reply,, i want to know if what i m doing is wrong or that girl is just trying to show her brains?

You are doing the right thing. Adding muscle helps to increase your base metabolism rate, which helps you burn fat even when you are not exercising! Doing both cardio and weights is always better if you are trying to loose fat, although some recommend doing weights first and cardio after.
