Hi,
I have a difficult question.....I realise it may be impossible to answer but here goes...
Ok so on my gym days I now do weight training combined with high-intensity interval training (HIIT). I love it. It is so much more fun than 1 hr cardio one day, then weights the next day.
From what I understand, resistance training causes you to not only burn calories during the process, but also after the process, due to the fact that resistance training/HIIT causes micro-tears in the muscle and connective tissue that requires calories to heal. Also the resistance training/HIIT stimulates muscle growth which also requires calories to initiate.
So my question is....can anyone give a generalised, rough estimate of how many calories one can burn after the resistance training/HIIT workout?
I'm not obsessed by calories at all, but I find it very interesting to know how many calories are being used to recover/build muscle from resistance workouts.
Obviously it must be a fair amount as I have lost a lot of fat and put on some decent muscle from doing this style of training. And my god, its so much more fun than hour upon hour of boring as hell cardio.
Thanks in advance for any help.
