Is it possible to eat TOO MUCH fruit in a day??

So far today i have had:

2 Braeburn Apples
1 Medium size banana
1 Small Plum
89 Pence worth of white seedless grapes from Somerfield lol.

By the end of the day i will probably eat another banana and 1 or 2 more small plums and maybe another braeburn apple, but i think 3 apples in one day is too many to be good for you right??

Would you say what i've listed as having eaten already is too much??

Oatmeal, 1Egg, 1 Piece Granary bread (toast)
Apple
Tuna Sandwich, Apple
Banana
Tuna Sandwich
Grapes
Plum
Chicken Breast w/ Brocoli, Cauliflower, Carrots (After work)
A Protein Shake after workout
Cottage Cheese and maybe a piece of granary bread
A Protein shake before bed.

Thats roughly it. I don't eat chocolate or crisps etc, i drink a LOT of water during the day at work too.

If I were you I'd sign up for a fitday accoutn and plug these things into the calorie tracker and see what your ratios are like. it looks like you're probably getting too many carbs.

and how can you eat tuna twice a day? that'd kill me LOL

How can you say that, tuna is so delicious lol.

It's just 1 tin, half on each sandwich. 139g in a tin, so about 69.5g of tuna on each sandwich. Sounds a lot when you say it like that lol. I'll put them into fitday and see what it comes up with and post the results in here.

Would you say i am eating too much bread??

I did a very quick and rough estimate, as i am supposed to be working ;)

I'll enter it all in again tonight with the proper portion sizes and all as custom foods so that its very accurate. But according to this its approx:

Fat: 19%
Carb: 53%
Protein: 28%

Should i be looking to switch those carb and protein percentages around from now on??? I.E i could eat more meat during the day, an extra tin of tuna (on its own from a bowl - yum. Etc.

This thread is interesting because I eat like 3 apples & 2 bananas throughout the day. Of course, I eat them at different times with a full glass of water in order to curb my appetite.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I've been meaning to ask this question too. From the responses, I'm guessing that as long as I eat healthy w/ exercise I should be fine? I never knew how much [natural] sugar fruit has, so this sorta alarmed me. Thanks!

Dan - I would stay away from a high amount of fruit and replace it with more veggies. Judging from the FitDay stats, I would say to up the protein as well. Bread contains a lot of carbs, so dont have TOO much, but I think that you are in a safe zone for now.

As said above, I'd just replace them with some vegetables, exercising can't knock off everything or I'd be eatin chocolate all day. :D

Oh well those fruits are just snacks, about 1/3 of my meals are salad without dressing or steamed veggies. I guess I just need to cut down on snacking :)

When i have my tuna sandwiches in work ill stick some veggies in the Microwave to go with them that should reduce my snacking on fruit aswell as getting the extra Veg that i need.

Btw i have no problem with Veggies, i absolutely adore them!!

I'm going to track my diet roughly tomorrow on FitDay again tomorrow and post my results up. I'm going to get more Veggies in and also cut down the bread and just stick to Two wholemeal/Granary Tuna "Batches", "Buns", "Baps" whatever you like to call them :) As opposed to slices of bread.

I believe that the current number I've stumbled on is to stay under ~60 grams of fructose a day.

Anyway, I've seen a growing trend of people staying away from fruit. Perhaps if you're trying to get super lean you might be conscious of what fruits you ate and when you ate them.

Here's some reading
