Is it okay to run on the same day you workout

I do my chest, triceps, laterals, and back on monday and thursday. Then after i finish, i go home and run on my treadmill for 20 minutes, 7.3 mph avrg, with 7.0 power incline. I burn about 300 calories and 100 fat calories avrg.

Do you think it;'s healthy and good for my workout to run the same days i do workout? I workout monday, tuesday, thursday, friday, and sunday. I run on monday and thursday. OPINIONS PLEASE!!!

if you have the energy and stamina, why not? i do a hard weight workout on sunday, then do yoga usually. later, I walk or do the bike.

i do a video workout - weights or yoga or pilates - every morning, and walk or bike most days as well.

so far, so good!

I am not an expert actually I know very little about this but I have seen people saying DONT work-out the same day you do cardio because cardio burns muscles too or something like that.

I keep seeing this argument. It is not true, unless you're running marthons or your body is at such a deficit for calories that you start burning muscle. You should be mixing up your cardio a bit--long, low-intensity, short high-intensity, medium steady-state cardio. You will be working legs and arms muscularly when you do cardio as well. On the days when you are running, you may want to take it a little easier on the leg exercises.

The running you're doing sounds just fine.

The tiny bit of muscle you lose will be off set by the fat-busting capabilities of cardio. And I think you running after your workout is a good plan--that way, you have your main energy used for weight-training. Just make sure your total workout time does not exceed 2 hours at a time. Otherwise, you may want to put more time between the weights and the running in the same day.

Losing muscle is mainly based on how you manipulate your diet while performing cardio/weight training.

After an intense weight training session your body is in a state of recovery in which time it is in dire need of protein/carbs. If you skip your PWO nutrition, you risk the chance of burning muscle if you choose to weight train then perform cardio after, unless your diet is in tune.

I'd suggest performing cardio earlier in the day and weight training in the later part of the day, if you would like to do both on the same day. Be sure you consume at least 3 meals before you start your weight training session and make those meals about 2.5 hours apart from each other.
