hey is it ok to drink like .5 to 1 gallon of 2% milk every day see i'm 13 5'2 and about 125 pounds i just thought milk never hurt any one all it did was make babys grow right i dont exspect milk to make me grow just help with somethings well this is the nutrional fats on a gallon of milk is

calories 2,080

fat 80g (this really throws me off)

carb 208g (all from sugar i hate that)

protein 160g (i really like that i dont get that much protein in my deit)

so what you think
 
Boy that certainly is a lot of milk young man! Kudos for getting in all that calcium to help those growing teenage bones!

I would be careful of the milk fat if you are not active. Meaning, you play more video games or computer games than playing soccer or baseball.
Too much milk fat can cause you to pack on weight if you are not active.

According to the Canada Food Guide which is a lot like the American Food Pyramid, Boys your age require a total of 1 Litre of milk per day.
You are taking in a minimum of half a gallon?
That is equivalent to 2 Litres of milk per day. Which is double the recommended daily total.
If you drink 1 Whole Gallon that is about 4 Litres a day.

Maybe try to drink water to quench big thirst and have your milk when you really crave it instead of having it when you are thirsty. That way you won't be consuming too much.

I would maily be concerned about the weight gain issue but again it depends on how fast your body burns the fat from your food.

ok i think you right that is a lot of fat coming just from milk plus all the other stuff i eat all day that might become a problem. so how about if i drink like 8 8 once glass's a day is that ok
 
sshhiiitt, i remember when i was a little boy, in elementary school, i would literally drink atleast like a litre-half gallon a day, because i loved milk so much ( plus all the cereal i ate ). several times. and it wasnt even 2%, it was vitamin D milk, with the extra calories and fat. but also, i was very very active. very active. i wonder if all that cholestoral will catch up with me :eek: i would always tell all my friends that my bones are never gonna break :p but yeah, i wouldnt mind drinking all that milk, except the fact im not as active as i used to be. iuno if its good or bad but...
 
Thats alot of calories for a 13 year old, Thats like all the calories you should have a day. Like bonny said, If your not active you will gain weight and werent you trying to loose weight before or something? Add the calories of what you eat a day to that 2,080 and it'll be like 3,500 thats way to much.
 
Robert 8 - 8oz glasses is still quite a bit.
May I ask why you are so worried or what caused you to worry?
Are you gaining too much?

According to what you posted you seem like you are at a healthy level.
One thing I wanted to mention...all of those TV commercials that tell kids that milk will make them grow ( i noticed you are 5'2") well it will help one part of growing but it won't make your height change any faster than what time can do for you.

But I guess drinking milk is better than soda or juice!
 
I just noticed that you were asking more questions before about training and making your muscles big and about growing taller.

I remember at 13 I also had to lose weight.

The best thing you can do is try to do more activity. Do you have a dog that you can walk every day? or Can you ride your bike everyday?

After you can do that goal everyday for a couple weeks THEN look at your diet.

I posted a website on my first reply to you.
If you look on the site there is a Food Rainbow that comes up.
It tells you the number of servings in each food group that you need for your age.
This way, you will NOT stunt your growth.
This way, you will get all of the vitamins you need.
Make sure you eat from EVERY food group and try to only have 1 junk food item per week. Ex. Small bowl of chips on saturday night.

With all this info I learned about you - STOP DRINKING SO MUCH MILK Lol! :)
