is going to the bathroom in the middle of a workout bad?

I notice every once and a while In the middle of my routine I have to take a S_ _ _. it can take anywhere from 10 - 15 minutes. obviously i have no choice as to weather or not i do this. what i'm curious about is, can this throw off the routine? do any of you experience this?

I'm not sure. I have sort of 'trained' my body to do that before a workout. So before every workout I manage to do it.

Maybe if you go to the toilet before every workout your body will get used to it and it will be easier

Not for lifting, but it always happened when I'd go for a run. That’s another reason I like treadmills and not the lonely streets.

The problem eventually went away. To tell the truth I think it’s nerves. I’m never really nervous when it comes to lifting but running has me peeing my pants. Also, look at your diet. I would eat too much at dinner, then the next day I’d head out, only to have things loosen up when I was way down the road.

one scoop of flax seed each mornin keeps me very regular

I second that ;)

However to answer the post.. (hehe)

Count yourself lucky you have a 'movement' at all.
It's better than being impacted... (and it's an ugly thing to fix!!)

But then again... some people are just full of sh!t... all the time.. LOLOLOL

Okay I am a very "regular" person, but I have had the same problem if my nerves are ramped up for a certain workout. Are you relaxed or a little nervous/excited when you workout?

well i had a chipotle burrito before my workout. rice black beans, chicken, lettuce, hot sauce and cheese on a tortilla.

i know you're supposed to eat before you workout, maybe that burrito is just too much for me

The question is if going to the bathroom is bad. I suppose if you have to pass a kidney stone, then yes, it would be bad. However, you got to go when you got to go. No sense in forcing crap in or out, both of which would be bad. Don't want to blow out something.

The urge to defecate may be brought about by your parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS) compensating for your overstimulated sympathetic nervous system (SNS).

Better than filling your shorts while squatting.

but 15 minute dumps is a great way to end up with hemmroids. Up the fiber man. Beans are good but you definitely need green leafy veggies for LOTS of reasons.

yeah i had em before, a couple of times actually. that's why i don't push very hard anymore. that was a very annoying time of my life to deal with.

First off, I hate people suggesting the fiber idea. Having quick crap does not mean you have smooth crap. Fiber just ensures that you're going to have a "smooth" feeling and stuff don't get "forced" out.

If you're sitting down for 15 minutes, and crap is coming out smoothly, you're fine. Don't rush it, cause that too is just as harmful as sitting for 15 minutes and crapping hard.

Basically, if you have to push it out really hard, and rocking back and forth and feeling bloated, you should kick up the fiber intake. But if you're having smooth sailing for 15 minutes, just keep doing that.

You and your butthole got to stick together for life. If one dies, the other dies too. So don't force things out of it!
