Sport Is a lot of carbs ever good?

Sport Fitness
I remember reading somewhere that as long as you eat most of your carbs before 2 o'clock in the afternoon its no big deal. So should I be able to say eat tons of pasta, with sauce, and garlic bread as long as its before 2 pm?

I dont know about time wise, but I know that carbs stick with you for about 2 days I think. Everynight before a big swim meet we would have to carbo load just eat tons of pasta to give you mass energy.

It all depends on your goals. If your cutting, you should work in the majority of your daily carb intake around your training time. If your bulking, then carbs can be ok at OTHER times of the day.

but if you eat too many calories, it doesn't matter what time of day you ate them or if they were protein, carbs, or fat.

never forget the 'big picture' when you start to dissect your eating habits.

What I recommend is determine your protein intake, and total caloric needs. Make sure 25-30% of your calories come from fats.
Then fill in the remainder with complex carbs, and the occassional extra protein serving, particularly if you find yourself gaining fat when you don't want to. Excess calories = fat gain, but carbs are most easily converted to stored fat.

basically eat your carbs around the time you are working out, they are an energy source. when your not using them they store as fat

I saw somewhere the most carbs someone could need during a whole day is like 4-6 slices of whole grain bread? My mom always sed put them chips down! Then she let me eat pretzles, any good come from pretzles?

I cant find the other thread so I dont know if I ever posted it but, I have heard like the right amount of carbs a person needs daily is like 4-6 pieces of whole grain bread? Booooooo No more pretzels!!!

The more carbs (complex) the better :p . I get around 65% of my calories from carbs and i've never felt healthier or had more energy.
