Iron Supplements and Constipation

Does anyone else have this problem. My doctor recommended extra Iron, but dang! it clogs me up.

I've been adding more fiber to my diet and I certainly do NOT want to have to resort to laxatives (talk about one extreme to another).

Any help would be, well, helpful. :)
 
There are certain brands of iron supplements that are slow-releasing, which help prevent constipation. The best thing you can do is to up your fibre - be sure to eat at least 25 grams per day. And drink a lot of water - increasing fibre consumption usually makes people feel crampy, but the water will help with that.
