iPod Touch.....Got one? What do you use it for?

I bought my husband a yorkie the other day, and he brought me home the new iPod Touch :)

I have been having fun learning what it can do, but I'm wondering what other people use theirs for. In fact, I'm typing this on my touch right now.

So, what applications are most useful to you? Any favorite games? Do you use any of the health and fitness programs?

Do tell......:)

what kind of video files can you download to an ipod touch any way?
Just curious because I don't have an ipod touch.

It takes the Apple's QuickTime video format. You can convert your own videos into the ones acceptable with iTunes/iPod Touch.

As for what applications, I'm not sure if it came with it, but the newest App update which allows you to download Apps and other things is what you want to get. You'll get major updates to Safari which makes it almost as good as using the PC. The update costs 10 dollars when I got it.

I use mines normally like an iPod. However, I like the wifi so I watch a lot of youtube on it. I don't play any games on it, and I'm not sure what fitness application it comes with. I do know it has a calendar in it which can be used like a journal.

you can download movies, depending on the size (mines only a 16G- but that can hold up to 20 hours of video or like 3,500 songs)

It's pretty must like an iPhone without the phone......*most* of the apps are compatible.....

I have the second generation Touch. It can automatically download apps from Apple, or onto iTunes and then when you sync it, it updates your iPod. Mine came with a calendar and a number of other apps, but was looking for
fun games or which of the health and fitness programs are good.... they have a few free ones....

Oh wow, yeah mines has way less than that. I bought it back when they first released iTouch without the phone.

I say browse around the app store and see if you can spot one. I remember Apple recently opened the SDK to the public so I'm pretty sure someone out there built a fitness app.

yeah I see there are a lot of fitness apps, but not sure which ones are worth downloading....

anyone tried any of them???

So it's just an "i" then :action2:
lol lame joke.
how much memory does a movie usually take up?

No, you can't download the video. Thought that would be nice sometimes.

I have the 4gb model, and I can't fit maybe one or two movies on it.

Sorry to say, fitness apps just aren't great on iTouch. I don't really see a need for it outside of the Notes you can make. Even then, it's very limited to the spectrum of "fitness" wise.

There's a golden rule of mobile apps/computers: if you're busying writing it down, you're not working out, and if you have to write it down afterwards to remember, it's probably not worth remembering. :p

how odd....I can download movies, and videos, music, apps, games, etc.

However mine is a 16G 2nd Gen iPod Touch so maybe that is why.

As for the fitness apps, Some of them have routines and we bought a flat screen and home theater system mine can dock to that has a DVD/CD player, so I can watch routines from my iPod while I workout (like Yoga, or aerobics) or listen to my music.

But I have to say I've been having a lot of fun playing the games.....lol :action12:

I find it odd you can't download youtube vids when my psp and archos can.
I also find it odd that movies in an ipod can take up so much memory space.
I only use my psp and archos for music, videos, and internet, but are these apps and games worth it?

His is an older model and maybe more restricted than the newer ones.

Most everything I get comes thru iTunes. It's stored there when I sync my ipod. BUT I can also have it sync to my computer so I can get my contacts, vids, emails, pictures, music, etc...when I hook it up.

It's a PDA really. I can do just about everything on it as I do on my computer. The only thing I can't do is call someone, but I can even do that with Skype if I get the ear phones with a mic......

Hmm, perhaps there is a way to do this. I can bookmark it, but I have to be connected.

Anyway, yeah ipods are fun! I went through 2 already lol.
