Hi Everyone,
I'm so glad that I found a forum filled with such supportive people! I've got 40 more pounds to lose and could use your encouragement and insight.
Over the past two years I gained 45 pounds, bringing my 5'3" frame to 180 heavy, heavy pounds. This was the result of a bad diet, stressful graduate studies, and general apathy about life.
My, how things change!
Three weeks ago I made the commitment to eat healthily and work out every day, and I've dropped 10 pounds thus far. I guess I would lose weight more quickly if I got on a specialized diet like Atkins, but I'd rather make a permanent, lifelong dietary change than a radical change that I know I wouldn't sustain for more than six months. I'm eating lots of veggies, low-fat cottage cheese, lean meats, fruits, veggies, and fat-free yogurt. Combined with daily 30-45 minute sessions on an elliptical machine, things seem to be going my way.
Enough about me- I look forward to getting to know you!
