Lately, I've been kind of wondering if this is true or not, and if it is then I'm definitely adapting to this new lifestyle. But what I wanted to know is that if I combined intermittent fasting (16 hours fasting 8 hours frame eating) with daily jogging (30-45 minutes of moderate intensity running), will this drastically increase the rate at which I lose weight?

Could do, can you tell us more about yourself and your goals? It would help people better answer you. I am neither an IF nor jogging expert, but we do have people here who know about both.

Best of luck to you.

Sure, I'm 18 years old, 5'11 ft and 88 KG, my goal is to reach a weight of 75 KG

Yes I have had great success with intermittent fasting. Combining it with exercise is an awesome idea. It turbocharges the benefits of the fast in that you burn more calories and take in less food. The key is to not eat the equivalent of three meals in your eating window. The key is to fast and also keep the overall intake of food down. For example one of the heaviest people I ever knew ate only one time per day. But that one time he gorged.

Depends on whether or not the extra jogging increases your appetite. I you eat 300-400 more calories a day because of the jogging your reduced eating window isn´t going to make up for that.

the goal of intermittent fasting is to give your digestive system a rest. after you finish your eating window, your body will take about 12-14 hours to deplete any stored glycogen forcing your body to burn fat. any exercise during your fasting window will either decrease the time it takes for you to enter a ketogenic state or if you exercise toward the end of your fasting window (what i do), you will generally be burning fat as, again, your glycogen stores available through digestion have been depleted and are now being renewed through lipolysis.

i will add that the closer you get to a normal BMI, the slower your loss will likely be. you really aren't that overweight, though i know exactly where you are (i'm also 5'11"). congratulations on catching yourself this early... i was close to 100 kg before i found out about intermittent fasting and learned more about nutrition in general. i'm currently around 76 kg, but the last 4-5 took the better part of 6 months. you might have a slight advantage in being about 50 years younger.

I'm slightly overweight, checked my BMI and I'm really not satisfied with how my body looks, my brother is an expert fitness trainer and he told me that this is the way to go, because he knows very well how lazy I can get when it comes to calculating the calories I consume, so he suggested I fast because it's easier. Do you personally have any tips? Or is fasting and exercise good enough to reach my goal of 76 KG?

under the Club sub-forum there is an IF Club string. i try to add to that occasionally when i find something that is relevant. there are probably also some thoughts on my diary page. i have an idea about what sort of calories i'm eating, but i do not count them. one good part about intermittent fasting... at least for me... i can't really eat that much inside of 8 hours. when i was trying to lose weight i often added some 20/4 days, too. the best first advice... don't go into it too fast. it took me about 2 weeks to slowly shrink my eating window down to 12 hours and a bit longer before i was comfortable with 18/6 or 16/8 days. also, try to throttle your first meal of the day. i had a tendency to overdo it, then it was often hard to get another meal into a 6 hour window.
