im not sure if im posting in the right place or not. i have lost NO WEIGHT but look and feel a wee bit firmer and trimmer. i run/power walk combo for an hour a day, 5 times a week then do 1/2 hour lungeing, squatting, crunching etc.
about a week ago, my lower back was achy and i wondered if it was to do with running or the fact i was due for my period (i often have an achy back a week before im due). yesterday my right hip was quite sore and stiff after a run and when running today, i had to stop and walk (or limp) back home as it was really hurting. it felt like it was right in my hip socket, when i put my leg backwards it hurt the most, it felt most comfortable in a sitting position! this WRECKED my head as i was doing really well and felt i could run for ages and ages (i love that feeling).
My trainers are designed for running and I paid nearly £100 for them so I assumed they would be good (asics or something). they aren't old either so i dont think its them!
it feels a tiny bit stiff now but that's all. should i rest it or continue to run tomorrow? can i do anything to help stretch this part of my body before a run to prevent injury? and is stretching basically the only preventative thing to do before a run/jog?
forgive the questions. p*ssed off i've not lost weight but im hoping thats muscle tone i've developed!
oh nand i caved on sunday and drank 5 pints of beer, whoops!!!!!!

Keep in mind that just because your sneakers weren't cheap and designed for running, doesn't mean that tehy are designed for your foot and your running style...

Stretching before and after your run is a good habit to get into...

not getting hung up over not losing weight every week is another habit to get into. it's the body it happens.. Just be consistent with your behavior...

I'd rest it or just do a small run to see how it feels - and then if you get no improvement go to a doctor...

As you're working out, you're building muscle, which is why you look and feel "firmer and trimmer". You're losing fat, but you're gaining muscle at the same time, which could be why you're not losing weight.

ok, thyanks guys, im off for a run now, i've been stretching and doing gentle toning excercise for past 20 mins, i will do same after my run. its all road running that i do, its a moderate jog that alternates with power walking, its all flat too so im pretty much pounding the floor as i run! there are no hills within walking distance (still learning to drive) but will find some hilly runs/walks when i can get out and about.
