Apparently our governor finally did something good, as of tomorrow the cigarette tax goes from 49 cents a pack to 99 cents a pack, and the extra revenue will go towards additional health care funding for children in low income families.
Of course since a lot of smokers here are also low income, they'll have their cigarettes even if their children are starving, but then again, they're probably on food stamps anyway, so hard to tell what good will come from this.
Anyway, that will put a pack of Marlboro's at around $5 a pack or about $48 a carton.
