In need of motivation

Hello everyone! I'm 22 years old and sick of feeling over-weight and tired. I used to be very happy with my body and took great care of it. My problem started once I transfered from a community college to a four year school. Two years ago, I used to wake up early and go to the gym 5-6 days a week and preplanned all my meals, so I always ate healthy. But once I transfered, I became very stress-out and was constantly doing school work. This left me with no time for the gym and I turned to food as a comfort. Basically I've gotten myself in a rut. I usually try my "diet" at the beginning of each month. I go to the gym and eat healthy, instead of junk. This usually lasts about 1 week, and then I get frustrated and upset cause i miss all my comfort food. I need to get myself set on a routine now, so it will be easier to stick to it once school starts again. I guess I'm just looking for some support. If anyone has any good tips please let me know!!!

hello there. I just started back in school as well. I never realized how much stress is involved. Durring school we never seem to eat right and everything is always rushed. I think you will find good support here. This is the first diet I have been on that dosent really feel like a diet. Just talking to people doing the same thing really seems to help...... see you around......lee

Hey Lily & welcome!!!

I'm sure the stress of school can't be easy. I remember those days. I'm a 30-year-old mom of 3 and just got back into shape. I hope I can help motivate you and encourage you along the way. BECAUSE YOU'RE WORTH IT!!!!!

Lily,

It seems you can what to do already.

I am a fresh graduate so I definitely understand your situation.

I recommend you study Anthony's Power talk with Dr. Young.

Personally I haven't tried it but I have heard some people got very good results from it.

Lily, welcome to the forum! It seems you have the knowledge you need to succeed at this. As for missing "comfort foods", I completely understand! I too fell into that "trap", but as a cook (10 years) I learned lowfat ways to make my favorite "comfort foods" better for me so I could indulge EVERY NOW AND THEN and keep the cravings at bay. If you want to, email me ( Apudgypeanut@aol.com ) or PM me with what your favorite foods are and I can give you some ways to make them better for you :D

For the most support possible, I suggest starting diary if you haven't already :D

Hi Lily,

At one time, I was 50 lbs heavier. My ultimate wake-up call was seeing my blood pressue going through the roof. It was scary. I guess I could handle the extra pounds, but hypertension was another story. So, I decided to take care of my weight problem. Sometimes stress can cause weight gain, but on the other hand, weight gain may add more stress.

I just started a weight loss motivation blog at:

Hope you find it helpful. Cheers!

Terry

Well I made it through 4th of July one pound lighter. Although I did over do it a little. But I will make up for it the next couple days by doing some extra cardio.

nrthrnmomof3~ I must say you are an inspiration to me. You've lost 78pounds!!! That's GREAT. I know having 3 kids does not make it easy. I do not have kids of my own. But I work as a nanny part time taking care of 3 little boys. It's not easy staying away from the cookies and cakes...especially since their grandparents are constantly stopping by with junk food.

Andrew~Congrats on your graduation!! I'll look into the power talk, THANKS!

BizeB~ I'll be PMing you soon. I would love to learn some new recipes!!! Especially since my bf just got his first apartment, so we have been trying to learn how to cook (real food, not just heat something from the freezer). It would be great to have "healthy choices" to make!!

Terry~I'll be checking out your site in just a second!! :)

Thanks for the motivation everyone!! It really makes me feel like I can stick to my diet/exercise plan when I have a great bunch of people supporting me who are also working toward the same goal :D
