Hey all!

For the last few days I think I have read through every post on the website!

So this is my first comment.

I am 19 years old, I live in Melbourne – Australia. I have a boyrfriend who lives with me and my family, he is the love of my life and my biggest inspiration, my mother also, she has always tried to help me battle with my weight problem, not because she wants to see me skinny, but because she wants to see me healthy and finally happy!

When I was 12 (2001) I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) one of the main symptoms is excessive body and facial hair. I have tried laser hair removal but it just doesn’t work for me so I have buried myself in pain and failure, I shave my face because I have nothing else to do, I cry when I touch my face and I can feel it. To be 19 and have to go through that is so painful, when I see other girls my age with a perfect body, not a hair and their complaining makes me so angry! With myself, with my family, with everyone! I cant live with it anymore.

I have always been overweight since I was about 11. I currently weigh 84kgs and I cant even look at myself, i need to do something, im just sick of giving up everything I try. I need to get to a weight of around 65 to be really really happy with myself and hopefully with a dramatic drop of weight my hair problem and PCOS will just leave me forever!!!

I heard about the Cohens diet on today tonight a week ago and immediately googled it, it sounds unbelievable but I hope it works for me as I have seen it work on so many of you all! Im just scared to try. Congratulations to everyone whos reached anywhere near your goal! All your posts have been inspirational to me.

I am about to get up off this chair, get my house phone and call Dr. Cohen right now.

Laura, I feel for you! I'm sorry but I know(knew) nothing about PCOS. Others may be able to help you more about what following the program will do for that but I can only say I am so grateful for following the program & losing the weight I have been carrying around for over 20 years. I think, if it's an hormonal thing, that the program should help get some balance. I hope it does. I will keep an eye out for you. Cohen's has changed my life for the better. I am no longer a fat person. I am more confident. I am myself again. All the best with your Cohen's journey. Take care, Cate

Hi Laura,

Cohens certainly works but it is very strict. I lost 35 kgs in just 4 months so you should be able to reach your goal weight in no time at all. It is so encouraging as you seem to go down a size in clothes evey few weeks which really keeps you motivated. The first week or 2 are the hardest and if you just keep reminding yourself that it does get easier and if you can just hang on through those first difficult days you'll reap the benefits of Cohens. Sorry I don't know anything about PCOS, but I'm sure its not going to hurt to give it a try.
Good luck and I look forward to hearing how you go.
Take care

Beck

Hey guys thanks so much for the support all ready, i called cohens the other day, theyre sending me paperwork or something to fill out, then i have to get my blood tests, do u no rougly how long after it all starts?

Hi Laura, It seems clinics vary in how long they take to get organised. I had my program within a week of having my blood test but chose to wait until after a function to start. I think it's a really good idea to get organised before you start. To me that was the key to success with the program. I weighed meat out into Meal 2 & Meal 3 portions & froze them individually so that I could easily grab them out of the freezer the night before. There are so many things you can do to make it easier for yourself. Stocking up is one of the best. It's hard to explain it all until you get your program so I will 'talk' to you again then & let you know some of my strategies. Preparation is the key though I think. if you can get rid of things like chocolate & not have them in the house at all that also helps. Once you get in the zone though nothing should tempt you. I would try to have the first 3 days at home if at all possible while you get your head (& stomach!) around it. Try not to freak at the quantities when you see them. The hunger disappears after the first few days. It is quite amazing. When you do get the program & are about to start a good idea is to start your own diary(just like you did this thread) but label it differently as you will no longer desparately be in need of help! I will have a look each day to see how you are going. Feel free to come visit me in mine, cheers, Cate
