I'm taking my driving test on friday...

...so everyone needs to wish me luck.

I feel ready. I spent all day today driving and half of yesterday. I've been all around the area I'm going to take the test, and I feel good about it.

I just need to avoid getting really nervous...

Cant avoid the nerves, once your doing it you will be fine :)

Good Luck!

WHEN you pass, just dont drink and drive...like me.

yeah good luck
as big tom said the nerves will pass

it should be easy as i dont think you have any roundabouts to tackle:)

I wouldn't bank on that. Even in Lincoln, Nebraska, we have 4-5 roundabouts at various intersections, for many years now.

And some ding-dongs still don't know how to use them.

Roundabouts rock! I would gladly trade dealing with a roundabout to having to stop every 50 feet for a red light or stop sign. Massachusetts has a very good roundabout system, borrowed from Mother England I'm sure.

We have some small ones here in Florida that are too small and don't work properly.

Hey, thanks everyone. Yeah, I know I'm going to be nervous, but I'm trying to turn the nerves into positive excitement.

I've got one good thing to look forward to.

I have one of these:

I can't wait to drive it around town, by myself...

I think the US just are not intelligent to use roundabouts :) hehe

All you have to do is look right and give them the right of way. Its that simple!

Remember, even after you get your license, keep learning and observing how traffic works.

Avoiding crashing includes not only avoiding doing something dangerous yourself, but avoiding other drivers' dangerous mistakes. For example, a green light normally means go, but it is best to have observed the previous traffic light phase just before you get the green (i.e. when they have the yellow) to see if there are any likely red light runners. Being hit in the side by a red light runner is bad news, since the side of your car does not have much crumple zone.

And be aware of your margin of safety -- when driving down the road, ask yourself "can I stop for or go around any realistic hazard that pops up?". For example, suppose the car ahead suddenly changes lanes and unmasks a stopped traffic jam or other obstacle -- would you be able to avoid crashing into it? If there is a stopped traffic jam just over the top of the hill or around the blind corner, would you be able to avoid crashing into it?

Maybe for you redcoats, but we yanks look to the left so we don't get killed entering the roundabout...

good point.. it's just that people already can't drive in Texas, I can just imagine what it would be like if we had them

Thanks for the advice and encouragement everyone. I'll let everyone knows how it goes.
