So I grabbed a scale to see what my bodyweight was at... 160... Better than I thought... So I was wondering what the average weight was for somebody 5'8-5'10. The measurement I last got at the doctors (roughly a year ago, maybe 2, but I doubt it's been that long).
Apparently, according to that information, I'm in a normal weight range... Yet despite this weight, and a large bone frame to add extra weight, I'm visibly and unquestionably overweight with parts of my body popping out with fat that shouldn't be.
So I got out the tape measure and started measuring my height...
Grabbed a pencil and leaned up against the wall, marking a spot, and measuring with a tape measure...
5'1!? Wtf? Couldn't be right... Try again... 5ft'2!? Try again with a book to create a straight edge to make sure my wrist wasn't bending or that I wasn't holding the pencil downwards and marking below my head. 5ft 5.... Taken the measurement 5 times on 5 different marks just to be sure... 5ft 5.
So at 18 years old, I've shrunk 3-5 inches in about a year... What's more confusing is that I'm fairly close to being within the spread of normal weight for my height. I can almost bench press my own weight (10 reps of 140lbs), and despite my weight I'm an incredibly fast sprinter, and not a bad jumper (suggesting I have a fair mass of muscle on me). I also have a fairly huge bone structure. So why do I look like I have an extra 20-30lbs more fat than I actually do? What's with my shrinking? Should I be making an appointment with my doctor?
