Im pretty angry

Well seeing how my old work was a fluke, im pretty mad. I was only fooling myself for some reason or not, things are different. In my other thread, I'm guessing my results were "false" or something, because its completely different.

In MY gym I did 110 MACHINE bench, its two bars which you push forward that gives you the same effect as a bench press. But in school I can only do a pitiful 75.

Also, overall im pretty weak.

14 years of age, 5'7

My arms span out to a wingspan of about 5'11 or 6 foot, so I'm guessing that has a lot to do with what is restricting me.

My cleans have improved, but still DRASTICALLY lack.

Before i was doing only 55, now im doing 85, but still, the others my age are doing 155 max's (85 is my max!)

My push jerks have also improved, also from 55 poinds to 75. But once again the others are at 115 point or so.

My squat is a weak 95, and the other are hitting 145 range.

What is wrong with me, will I ever get as strong as them with my frame as i have it now? I basically have a very low body fat % (I'll go to the doctor and get a full physical on my health)

Also to note, a guy that was like 80 pounds, about 3-4 inches below me, is benching more than me by 10 pounds but my squats and cleans and jerks are leading by pitifully, 5 pounds. (this guy is like basically all flab, but I guess his small size gives him leverage)

Guys, what should I do, as I'm stuck in a rut.

Start by stopping the comparison between you and others. Everyone is different. The best thing to do is challenge YOURSELF.

Stick with it and you will continue to improve. If you hit a plateau, try switching up the exercises you do. And, change the number of reps and sets you do as well.

Make sure you aren't overtraining... Your muscle groups need a minimum of 48 hours rest as a beginner.

Finally, at 14, you shouldn't even be trying as hard as you are. Real weight lifting shouldn't come in until you are 17. You can do permenant damage to your bone structure, muscles and even tendons at your age. Take it light and stop worrying.

I know it seems like everyone is stronger and you will never be bigger or stronger, but life is a whole lot longer than you think right now and you need to focus on nutrition and rest at this age. Strength and muscle will come with time and age.

One thing you can do is not stop lifting when the schoolyear ends. Most of your classmates will abandon everything for the summer or duing marchbreak etc. On the other hand if you keep going at it and slowly getting better you will surprise them all next year:). You should also make sure you are eating right. Read the nutrition part of these boards for all the info you need on what to eat.

im a jr in high school and i was in 7th grade only benching like 121 and now as a jr im benching 260 squating 350+ cleaning 230 and deadlifting 400+ so just stick to it and work when there not and u will do it eventually. it wont be over night we all wish i was like that. good luck

See? I'm a freshman in highschool and benching 75... Do you know how depressing that is?

BTW: I recently weighed in again, im 117.5 lbs.. I'll go to a doctor to get a physical seeing if everythings OK with my body and check out my BF %.

don't get down on yourself! when i was a freshman in highschool i benched 75 just like you, i curently max out at more than 4x that.. you can do anything you want, it takes commitment & hard work. right now you could probably bench 10-15lbs more than you are able to, but your mind is stopping you..

dont let your mind know what your lifting (add like 20 lbs to what you think your max is) and just keep telling your self its only 70 i can do it no prob and you'll see what you can do, i believe lifting is like 90% and 10% physical, if you dont think you can do you cant, if you think you can you can (well thats where that 10% physical comes in, limites your absolute max)

sep, buddy, keep it up man, i plan on being a part of this site for a long time, and i expect you to check in with any progress you are making. Freshmen year i think i was benching about 100.. just a little bit more than you, but i was also bigger than you.. now i can curl that like nothin. You're still a youngin, so take it easy man, im 17 now, and benching 175 3 sets of 8/6/6/ just keep it up, and if u wanna get stronger.. eat alot.. gain some weight, itll be good for you. just eat healthy.. alot of meat, and stuff..then come jr, and senior year, if u want work on burnin the fat off when ur benching like 250+ . Just stick to it, you're young, and everyone else here says "dont compare you're self to other people" .. well i dont agree, you should. If u think that you're weak, that should get u pumped up to try harder. Thats what I did, i seen the kids around me doing like 25+ more lbs than me. The next year I was curling 115 while they were doin like 65. I just worked my ass off, i didnt realize how slowly i was geting stronger until like over the summer i went lifting with those same people, and i found myself adding weight to watever they were doing. u just gotta keep workin at it man, it takes time, and work. its called "working!! out" for a reason. it dont come easy, but the reward's are worth it.

ayo man dont feel bad im 14, freshman in highskool also,

i can only bench 120

and i think anger helps, get all that frustration you have, and put it into your body,

im 5,7 and weight 116 pounds, we kind of the same, we both got frustration bout others, but listen, your only looking at the stronger kids and being depressed, your still stronger then a lot of freshman,

just stick to it man

wow you guys just depressed the hell out of me. I'm 18, 260lbs and bench only 110lbs x30. I should have started working my chest long ago, but oh well. Though it does suck, I can't seem to improve. On good days I may be able to do 135, 150, 6 times, but then I have to drop the weight down to finish off the set.

So why not drop your sets to reps of 2-4?
