I'm new!

Hello everyone!

I was excited to see an active and friendly place to hang out with fellow fitness buffs! I've always exercised in an on and off again pattern, but when I started again last Feb. it really stuck and now I'm addicted! I started strength training in May and that's when I really started toning up and shrinking.
I'm looking forward to trading ideas for the best exercise DVD's, books and equipment.

Welcome! I'm big into walking right now (I do exercise videos as well, but I like walking better!), but would be interested in other plans, videos, etc. as well, for the variety:)
 
Welcome fitfab40! I'm a born-again fitness enthusiast too! Here, its mainly strength training at the gym, cross country running/jogging with the dog - and walking, swimming, and cycling - when I get any time left over!

I really enjoy the Firm DVD's and Jillian Michael DVD's too. I buy a lot off from eBay to keep my routines from getting boring. Plus I do a strength training routine of my own.

What are you favorite healthy snacks? I'm always looking for new ideas.

hi, im new too, my name is Emily, I was on a diet, but am starting over...gained sum weight back...um, my snacks are usually cheese sticks, broccoli, carrots, light yogurt, ummmm, protein bars and shakes, i try to vary them as often as possible, probably nothing new...hopefully it helps tho, but anyways, welcome!! I jus joined today so...hope to make some new friends!!
 
Favourite snacks! I don't really see a clear dividing line any longer between meals and snacks - I'm eating small meals often. I guess maybe beef jerky is up there - it is a high protein snack, but has some sodium. I did try some soya nuts - but I'm a little wary of the soya scare stories. Otherwise its fruit, nuts, maybe a honey or almond spread sandwich - or I grab a chicken breast... Sometimes an oat or fibre bar.

yea, beef jerkey is very good. never heard of the soya scare stories, lol but yea, my meals ore mostly a protein shake in the mornin, a 100 cal pack for a snack, a 100 cal pack for lunch, a slimfast bar and/ or chicken at night, im actually doin ok, feel weak and have horrible headaches, and most of my friends are tellin me i need to eat more, but i am so ready to lose weight....i kno most of yall will probably tell me it is dangerous too, but i jus want to lose so bad this time....now that i really read it, its not that much....but i do slip ini some fruit in between so that helps....umm, if anyone thinks that is dangerous let me kno, i want to lose weight but i dont want to jeopardize actually being healthy, ya know? ugh, well, let me kno yalls honest opinions, thanks~!

Welcome to the group!
It sounds like you are highly motivated! But please be careful about lowering your calories too much. Also, the headaches could be caused by not getting enough water too. Try to get in more water each day.
I've written a lot about nutrition and exercise. I'm not an expert but can certainly pass on what I do know.
If you lower your calories too much you're body thinks it is in starvation mode and your metabolism will actually slow down!
Remember, you want to REMOVE the weight, not lose it! (Losing it means you may want to find it again!!) So, think of this as a life long process. Not a diet. Baby steps, baby steps and the results will be forever!!!
