I'm new!

Hi! I'm really excited to join this forum because I have only ten more pounds to go. I'm only sixteen, but my weight is a constant struggle because of a predisposistion for being overweight. I have never felt confidant with myself and will do ANYTHING to get out of being in a bathing suit, even at my current weight. Around 6th grade I started to be heavier and by the end of my freshman year of high school I was 141 pounds (which is definately not good at my small 5'0 height!) I gave up soda in February of '05 and lost a couple pounds, but that wasn't enough. I started the South Beach Diet with my Dad in July and got down to 130 pounds by Sophomore orientation. I would alternate between going on the strict two week phase of South Beach and eating normal, but healthier than before. I ended up at 116 pounds by Christmas and by switching to a healthier low calorie plan I now alternate between 109 lbs. and 114 lbs. I have just joined a gym and workout between one or two hours six days a week. I am ready to shed those last few pounds and hit the beach!

Kara, good luck with the last few lbs. Dont get discouraged. It's great that you have your Dad as a partner in this! Woo hoo to the bathing suit! Keep up the good work!
 
Don’t be surprised if you put on a little weight now you have started at the gym… don’t panic it’s a good thing its that muscle you are building up. Measure your self and you will find even if you are putting on weight your body is shrinking and looking good. The muscle will help burn that last little bit of fat you want to get rid of.
