Hey Krissie, welcome to the forum. It really is a great place for support and getting some great tips. There is probably every different type of method for losing weight on here..lol.Its finding one that works best for you. Take care, and thanks for stopping by my diary ~ Michelle :)

Thanks Michelle,
You are the only one who replied to this..I had a lot of views.....but just you. again Thank You:Angel_anim: I need some support and swaping positive stuff..ya know!! I was surprised..I've been to the chat room ..thinking it would be full of people chatting ..but I was wrong...plus i'm flipping around here to see how everything works. later

Welcome to the forums, Krissie! I noticed you had a specific date for your end goal. Is it just a date you picked or a special event? Just curious, you don't have the answer if you don't want to. :) Best of luck!

welcome! this is where you need to be. the support will be a big factor in helping you let alone the huge knowledge you are about to receive.

Good Luck!

Probably your biggest problem with getting replies is that you have posted this in the challenges section - the area devoted to challenges which people join for a short time to see them through the next stage of the journey.

It is all explained in the different sections and the sticky threads that you find there.

Dont worry too much as we have all been new and everyone makes mistakes. Welcome to the forum anyway.

There is a seperate section where newcomers introduce themselves.

Many people set up a diary in the diaries section and visit each others diaries to make friends and acquire support buddies.

There is a clubs section where you may want to join a club and make friends there.

You also make friends via the chat threads associated with the different challenges.

Hey, I am new here and planning to lose 50lb as well!. I don't have a specific goal date though, but I wish I can lose 50lb by Dec as you are planning. I am on the August challenge. So, you can go there and there will be alot of support!

Khaleda - I am afraid that Krissie hasnt posted anything since 14th June when she said that she had only had the one reply... I suspect that she may have become discouraged and stopped coming here. It is a shame as I am sure that she would have had much better support and encouragement had she posted in the newcomers section. People do not expect to find this kind of posting in this section.

It has only risen to the top today because a spammer caught it with a sentence from my posting. He actually made a few postings of that type this morning - some of which have been deleted and others have had the spam link removed (as this has).

Yes, it's a shame.
Wow, Omega, you came a long way from 294lb. Congrats to you. How long did it take you and what did you do?

Khaleda - thanks for your kind comment. I started my project during the last week of February 2007.

Initially I was very big and very unfit. I had tried to lose weight a lot of times but never got anywhere. I believed that I couldnt exercise because people kept telling me that I had to walk briskly for it to be of any benefit and I knew that I couldnt do anything briskly.

I started off by going out walking and I walked round the block. Basically - as soon as I could increase the distance I did. I went out walking every day. I didnt care about speed - just distance. I could easily tell if I had got further on my travels. Every few days I was going further and further. Soon I was covering surprising distances. I found that I naturally speeded up.

At the same time I started changing my food so that it was getting healthier. I cut out the junk food - then step by step I altered things so that it was better.

Soon I noticed that I was losing weight in a way that I had never managed before - so I pushed things along more and more.

I only found the forum when I hit a plateau situation and had stopped losing weight. I didnt know what to do so searched the internet and found this website.

I halved my start weight on losing 147 in April 2008. It then took me another 13 months to get to my goal weight. I am now just learning maintenance.

That is basically what I did in a nutshell. I made lots of friends here and joined lots of challenges and clubs too. I found that this all helped to keep me on track.

I am running a challenge at the minute where the bonuses are basically things that I consider to be pretty important for weight loss - in a bit of a fun "party games" format. It has been going a month - but you would be more than welcome to join in. Some people find the sticky threads on nutrition a bit like school work - and prefer to pick up the basics in a party game.

Life is too short to be serious, laugh it up.
