I guess if i need help with this topic i should explain everything.

I'm overweight, I'm looking to lose weight.

When i was skinny/in better shape i would bike outside alot(ages 15 and below)

I'm almost 23, I've been overweight for a while now since 2006-ish

I didn't become overweight from eating or just not exorcising, I was put on a medication for something specific which has a side effect of weight gain, this was back in 2006- I've struggled to lose weight ever since, i went from 180-190lb to 309lb in less then a few months. and i was around 16 years old.

Right now I'm about 260lb mainly lost weight due to not eating much, but i know this is not a good idea. I'd rather exorcise and lose weight, and maintain muscle and / or increase muscle lose fat.

SO- on to the topic of PAIN and SWOLLEN KNEE feeling, with Stationary bike use,

So i just started biking on my stationary bike agaaain.. but i notice this weird feeling in my RIGHT knee when I'm biking then afterwords it feels swollen and hurts when i kneel down on the floor or move a certain way.

I couple mistakes i think i might of made are:

- Biking to hard to soon.

- Doing to much for the shape I'm in.

I don't have a set schedule or a plan for biking, which i would like, if it actually worked and i didn't have pain in my right knee or a swollen feeling.

----

what am i asking? -

*What should i be doing for (stationary) biking at my weight (260lb) I'm about 6'2''

*How much time should i bike for, for someone who is just starting to exorcise and hasn't done much at all.

*what should i do about this Knee pain situation... I can't bike if my knee is going to be hurting for a week after i bike each time, how the heck is that going to work, i want to bike everyday and sweat, see some progress..

----

i just need a plan and advice..

what else.. oh i'm doing the stationary bike mainly to just sweat, build up some sort of strength instead of doing nothing, so to gain stamina? endurance? .. I'm not an expert on this. I just know it will help. also i really want to work on my belly/abs atleast get rid of this... i have a hernaited disk in my lower back, is there a certain exorcise that i can do that won't be painful but also help build up my abs and get rid of belly fat..

oh and i want to try to get down to 210-225lb as i see that as my ideal weight, but maybe I'm wrong.

ABecause you have joint pain you are going to have to loose weight through diet first, to take the pressure off the knee, if you do still use the bike keep it to no more than 15-20 minutes at a low resistance and intensity if you have been cleared to do exercise by your doctor.

The amount you sweat has little to do with the actual calories burnt. some people will sweat easily and other will sweat very little despite intense exercise. working your abs will strengthen your abs but will not help you loose belly fat.

it sounds like you have a fair number of medical problems so I won't make any other specific suggestions for exercise other than get medical clearance if you haven't already.

Thank you for your reply and information Trusylver.

I will talk to my doctor about the pains i have in my knee when i Bike. I'm supposed to do back exorcises for my herniated disk. i do them sometimes.

i feel like its one big struggle to lose weight with my back and knee now slowing me down, the one thing i know i can try and do (biking) i can't even do that now..

As for my diet, well i don't see it as a problem, i don't eat much, the only thing i could change is maybe eating more salad and less of bad stuff like chips and or junk food.

- I will post again(after i see my dr) with an update and hopefully better news. maybe then i can ask for advice on what to do Edit:for my bike exorcise routine and whatever else*. thanks.
