Hey everybody!
I definately need motivation and perheps advices.
i have been working out for a month now and i lost 1 KG ONLY! and i couldnt be more dissapointed. BUT, i lost alot of inches.. so what does that mean? am i doing something wrong? or thats good
i do a 1 hr workout almost every day and im on a low carb diet
bascially i eat boiled stuff and no oil ..
and i weigh 85 KG height is 5 feet 3inches (160 cm) so im definately OVERWEIGHT..

my trainer told me tht i might be building muscles, thats y my weight ddnt change much..

discuss plz?

1 kilo is a start.
Some weeks I would do everything right. Eat exactly on my calories and loose nothing or worse GAIN. Other weeks I would be really chill and somehow loose freakin 2 kilos. Also if you are a woman a lot changes in your body due to your monthly cycle so take account of that before you weigh yourself.

Over all I see weight as a poor indicator of success. Instead make yourself accountable through how much workout you are doing and how good you are eating.

Eating good does not mean eliminating oil or eating just boiled stuff or tasteless things. You can really eat anything as long as it is in moderation. I have lost a lot of weight in my life and I have barely given up anything that I liked. I only gave up eating those things in access. Yes I still eat ice cream and chocolates and pudding. Just in moderation and I account for it.

I suggest make a food and workout journal. If you keep at it you are bound 2 c results. Both in scale and dress sizes!

I recently started using the calorie counter and i bought a scale and stuff .. i totally agree that it depends on the body :( i guess cuz i was expecting too much...
but today is a new day.. and new diet.. and lets c the results.

quick Q.. appearently i have been eating less calories on my first month, is that the reason i ddnt lose much? my trainer told me to reduce portion :S so which one is it....

it sounds like your trainer is guessing, they need to help you by taking bodyfat % measurements so you can tell exactly what is happening as far as fat loss and muscle gain are concerned.

If you were training, you may have built a lot of muscle and lost fat. But as muscle is heavier than fat, its not been so noticeable yet. That's one explanation.

I understand

I've been there and understand your frustration. when I was in college, we had a great gym, I worked out everyday for an hour mostly cardio, and a little strength training. I weighed myself every week and almost NOTHING! Eventually I realized that I had gained muscle (which helps burn fat) The health center took my body fat percentage (you know when they pinch you in certain places) and my body fat percent had gone from 31 to 26, then to 24! BUT I had very little actaully weight loss. I gain muscle easily to so I am sure it is different for everyone. I know that muscle is heavier than fat so this is a part of it too.
About your diet, I am not a nutritionist, but have studied nutrition and this is just my oppinion: but sometimes fat help burn fat and too low fat of a diet can make you crave other bad foods, also it''s bad for your body long term so it's not sustainable. Give yourself some of the things you crave but that are good for you. Avacado's are full of fat but actually burn fat in your body. Turkey is low fat, cheap and you don't have to boil it. Olive oil and fish oils also help your metabolism get moving. Low fat yogurt gives you protein and probiotics (gut bacteria) which help digest your food.
Good luck AND eat some food! :)

Thank u SO much.. i feel so much better reading that. i did measure my body fat and it reduced by 1% = 1kg im assuming..
i think i used to have more calories then i should but now i use a calorie counter and im eating healthy food but enough for me to lose the weight.. i heard that its true muscles help u lose fat. but i want the fat to go away then i can build muscles. thank god i wasnt demotivated.. :coolgleamA:

I eat around 1200 calories aday and work out for an hour.. 30 mins circuit training and 30mins pilates

thank u so much for the reply..

Hi Zandola
You are doing well you should congratulate yourself. It may not seem like a huge amount to you but if you pick up a 2kg weight and hold it in your hand it will make you realise that it is a lot to burn off.

When I was gym instructor we emphasized measurements over weighing, as already said here, since muscle weighs more than fat when you are doing a large amount of exercise, as you are doing, you will be building a lot of muscle tissue. Many of the ladies only did the toning tables so their weight would barely change but they would be losing inches all over due to toning. How many inches have you lost in total? When the ladies complained that an inch off here and there isn't much I would total up the amount and then hold out the tape measure to show the length. It may sound silly but it really helped people to 'see' the amount they had shrunk.

You have lost inches therefore look slimmer, don't forget you don't walk around with your weight printed on your forehead, teehee, so if you look slimmer that is what people will see and eventually you will see it yourself too. ;)

As a good example, my old colleague at the gym was a gym instructor by day and a lap dancer by night. She was extrememly fit as you can imagine and no fat on her slim size 8 (UK) figure, with great muscle definition but didn't look bulky like a body builder. She was 5'4" and weighed 12 stone! It was very hard to believe and many a time she would jump on the scales to show people who were upset having only lost inches not weight and their eyes would pop out of their head! Many did joke that all the weight was in her D cup implants hahaha!

Another example is another ex colleague whose BMI showed him to be 'obese' due to his height and weight ratio but he was a very muscular guy with 3% body fat!

Well done for the 2.5kg it really is brilliant and remember also that the slower it comes off the more likely you will keep it off as it is not just water. :)

Hello Trufflette.
Thank u so much. I know ur right bcuz thts wht everyone is telling me.. but to me, looking at the scale is important. :( alot of ppl say i dont look 85 (3kgs ago) lol am i heavy cuz i also have a DD non implant breast LOL
doesnt matter. hehe. as for my inches. i dnt remember exactly. but i lost an inch in every body part.. as for my arms and thighs i lost 2inches..
i feel so much better bcuz other ppl told me the same tht u shld check inches. but im like NOO. i dnt want to be 82! i want to be 65! but im getting there :D
thank u...

Yaay for me <3

Yey well done you, an inch from every body part at least that adds up to quite a length! Each time you get measured ask them to total it up from the start and then look at it on the tape measure, I am sure you will be impressed. Most people find that the weight wil start changing after the inches when doing a lot of exercise. Another idea is to buy a pair of skin tight trousers and put them on each week and watch them get looser, that is usually really inspiring :)

oh wow, yes i will check my weight on the 5th of june.... i dnt need to buy any trousers. cuz nothing fits :'( lool I AM HIGHLY MOTIVATED..
