It's in Europe

No, It's not in the US!

Sorry guys, I'd like to start by saying that I actually tend get on better with Americans than I do my fellow country men so this isn't just US bashing but I have to add this one;

Back when I used to smoke I was standing on the street outside work (in London) and this American couple come up to me and ask me if I know which tube (metro) line goes to Edinburgh! :yelrotflmao:

My British step-brother upon arriving at the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport:

"Do you have Kentucky Fried Chicken here?"

It's not just a few souls, it's the majority of the audience that gets the simplest question in the world wrong ;)

Im from Denmark and this is my little one:

-Where are you from?
Denmark
- Denmark?
yes... you know in Scandinavia?
Isn´t Denmark the capital of Sweden?

this is kinda an urban legend in denmark but should be true according to my Dad....
Americans either know a whole lot about the world or nothing at all according to my experince, never meet one in between. But 99 % of the ones I have meet where openminded and friendly. Except one I meet in the street of NY who claimed that I had stolen her kids.:)

No surprise, considering The National Geographic–Roper 2002 Global Geographic Literacy Survey polled more than 3,000 18- to 24-year-olds in Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Sweden and the United States.

Sweden scored highest; Mexico, lowest. The U.S. was next to last, and even though other countries weren't much better.......

- only 17 % of young adults in the United States could find Afghanistan on a map

- 11 % of young citizens of the U.S. couldn't even locate the U.S. on a map

- less than 15 % of the young U.S. citizens could locate either Iraq or Israel

- within the U.S., almost one-third said that [ the U.S. ] population was between one billion and two billion; the answer is 289 million.

OMG! That's awful. You can just laugh when it's the occasional person being dumb but when it's such a large group it's quite sad.

er, I knew it was 289m, that's actually pretty sad when I think of all the useful stuff I could know but don't
