Anyone else had a bad few training days?
Went to the gym thursday, left my trainers at home so could only swim for half hour rather than the planned lower body/HIIT session.
So i did a full body friday morning to compensate, but did eat anything before hand as i was rushed out and i couldnt face the HIIT.
Went to my friends friday afternoon, car packed with milk, nuts and fruit.
Friday afternoon, seeing friends, couple of pints as a treat. Friday night, with friends, didnt want to appear an idiot so had a chinese.
Saturday morning woku up to sausage and bacon sandwich, no cereal in sight, and white bread (!). Starving so eat. Lunch was better, reservedly chose diet coke and chicken salad. Ate a few chips but no big deal. Plus i rowed for an hour afterwards, 75% of which was against the strongest current stratford has seen for a long time. it was the best resistance work ive done in ages.
Meal number 3 of the day (usually a snack of tuna, nuts, fruit) two cups of tea and a brownie. oh dear. "any chance you've thrown some whey in that?"
and then tea was pre bought in as frozen pizzas. nevermind, ill enjoy them as a one off and just have a couple of slices.
And then it got worse. went out for the night, few pints lager, we left the bar at around 3 and then..... takeaway time.
now i have been known to order houmous pitta and salad from the greasy hovels that the drunkard masses swarm to after having a few. mostly ill just have some water. not this time, oh no, chicken burger ("hold that translucent, fluorescent mayo you seem to be trying to drown the food in") with chips. i never have that.
In my defence, i believe that eating small but regular meals meant that i was just all the more hungry when i was forced to break the routine. Still, it didnt improve. drank immense amounts of water to flush the crap (and the guilt) out.
Woke up the next morning "Bacon again, great!" said i. Another 'one off'.
And then i travelled home. Bad diet, guilt ridden thoughts. So i got back on the wholemeal, chicken, nuts, seeds and milk routine.
Football was cancelled so i thought id go out for a good run, clear the head, get the blood pumping and the metabolism back up to speed. half mile out i twisted my ankle, it hurts, made worse by having to walk the half mile back home. Bag of peas, no exercise, guilt washing over me in tidal waves.
Still, i then had a lamb roast ("ill just have a couple of potatoes and plenty of broccoli"). Feel better now. Unrationably fatter, but better.
So its going to be an interesting week at the gym. Wish me luck.
