Ideal weight confusion

Ok, I am totally confused  is there someone out there that knows the answer? Here is the question....

When I started this lifestyle change I set a goal of 135 pounds, due to the fact that that was how much I weighed 10+ years ago when I was a size 6-8. I am now currently at 153 pounds and wearing a 6-8. Granted, this is the first time I have actually worked out and used diet together to lose weight. So what I don't understand is if I try to get to my "ideal" weight set by all the tools on the internet, I will be in a size 4. No offense to anyone, but I don't want to be a size 4, I think it looks too skinny on me. That being said, how much do I alter my goal weight? Also, anybody else having this confusion? Appreciate any feedback.:)

Sounds to me like you have lost A LOT of inches, which has changed how clothes fit you. Inches can make just as much of an impact as actual weight loss. Have you kept a record of how many inches you've lost across your body?

you have just discovered the biggest problem with "weight loss". To do weight loss properly, you should be doing body measurements and aiming for a healthy Body Fat %, not staring at the scale. For 1, when you are young and thin, it is usually just genetics, so you don't have a lot of muscle tone. when you get older and want to trim down (and do it properly), you do a combonation of cardio and weights ... this will add muscle, which you never had before and messes up any weight comparison you had. And, since everyone works out differently and has different muscle structure, you can't even compare your weight against someone elses.

I love how Madrid has banned skinny people ... how? by making them meet a minimal healthy BF% ... which only minimally has to do with there actual weight, but more directly with how healthy they are.

Thank you both, that helps. I am now just trying to come up with a correct goal weight, so I have something to work towards. Unfortunatly I did not keep track of inches. All I know is that I started at a size 16. I think I will up my weight loss goal to 140 and see how that does. I just have to get past that mental block of the number on the scale. By the way what is a healthy body fat % for a 30 yr old at 5 foot 6 inches?
