I want to become faster

I want to become faster. I visit the gym often and my most comfortable speed would be 9 mph. I can run at this speed for about half an hour without getting too tired.

I want to become faster though, would there be a specific routine to become faster? Is it better to run on a faster speed for a long time to get used to it and keep going up that way or is there another option?
 
To become overall faster, I would just continue to run at a pace that challenges you. Don't forget to do sprints for your max speed. Exercises I'd be sure to do would include straight legged dl's and squats.
