Hi! I have noted with interest that there are a lot of members who are training to run on here! I'm joining to help me stay motivated and have a place to chat about challenges and strengths vs weakness.
I like competing and so I hope I can spring board from the successes I see here as I challenge myself.
This week major goal is to reestablish my proper water intake and stop eating the boyfriend's white bread.
It's raining and I have an awful cold, so for today at least, I'm not even talking about my fitness goals.

So carbs are good for runners right!!?? :(
I'm feeling better and hit the gym for intervals this morning. Still kind of mucky outside but I did some gardening and chores.
Thinking on Monday I will start jogging. After I'm sure I can breathe properly from that cold.

My tip is use an app! I use runkeeper and as you've stated it ups the competition, mainly with yourself. I don't run everyday (working on it) but I still paid the 20 to go 'Elite', where they offer extra stats and tracking - thinking it's cheaper than any gym membership and it lasts a year. I'm forever trying to beat my old times, crack up the pace and go the distance with a calm and reassuring standard british computer lady telling me all of the above. Tonnes of good music is key. I've found mid-90's rap is my jam, and keeps morale up - just keep telling yourself home is just around the corner!

Good luck buddy, let us know how the first run goes!

Hahaha Pump Up the JAM!!! Mid-Nineties rap, that's awesome. I saw the post you made regarding Amber/hunters run plans, with two short runs, one long one a week.
I have thought about the apps, definitely will track progress and daily calories too. I do eat light when not desk munching and don't want to deficit badly.
Thanks!
