I wanna buy an mp3 player.. recommendations?

I want an mp3 player mainly for biking this summer. My last one died out on me but I liked my old one a lot.

It had a 15 gb hard drive and you could organize your music into folders and stuff...

I don't need that big of a hard drive, but about 4-8gb would be nice. Don't want to spend more than $150...

i got a 2gig ipod, holds bout 2 thousand songs, dont think youll get through all of em on a bike though..

No idea on prices where you are but, I have an 8gb ipod nano and would recommend it to anyone (including you) :)

ipod shuffle

I recommend the ipod shuffle. It holds about 250 songs, enough to workout to and change when you want. It costs about $50. it's tiny and you can clip it to your shirt or shorts when you are working out. Go to the Mac Mall online and you may get it a few dollars cheaper.

I really need an MP3 player too but I need one that runs on a REGULAR battery. The ones that you can charge up don't last long enough for me. The biggest I've found is a 2 GB but I would love a 4-8 GB. Does anyone anywhere have one that runs on a regular battery?

I do not have a regular battery one, but I do have one that lasts a VERY long time. Somtimes I will get thru near;ly a whole week with it. And I use it alot- 2-4 hours a day. You plug it into the computer to charge it up.

PLUS- it has handled being sweat all over like crazy. Since I bought it, after burning up 3 others, I have loved it and only had to buy new ear buds twice.

I've also been looking into getting one and I would like it to have an FM tuner. The best I've found (based on price and reviews) is in the Sandisk Sansa e200 series of players. They range from 2GB up to 8GB I think (maybe higher). They are reasonably priced and have gotten pretty good reviews.

A couple of things I've wondered and maybe someone can help me with here.

1) How is it using iTunes? I'm just not sure about sticking with a single source for music. Is it better to buy a player that plays MP3 format so you can download from Wal-Mart or whoever may be cheapest at the time?

2) Are refurbished units worth it? You can always find good deals on refurbished units on woot.com, dealnews.com, buy.com, etc... Does anyone have any experience with refurbished players?

That is a long time to last but I'll be using mine while I'm backpacking in the middle of nowhere. That's why I really need one that runs on batteries. If it had multiple batteries that would be cool too but I don't think I've seen that.

+1

I use the shuffle too. I like that it's so small and light. You just clip it on and can hardly tell it's there

agreed. shuffles are awesome as well as cheap.
for running and biking, i just bought a little cheap one of ebay for 20 bucks. 1gb, clips to my shorts.
i recommend them as you can put the songs you only want to lsiten to on it. where as with an ipod, you have 84930759837589 songs, you gotta find one, and make a playlist etc.
with the smaller ones, you put your 50-100 fav. songs and away you go.

hmmm, I have been looking around at a lot of these.

Just to review I want something that I can:

1. Categorize music into folders, etc.

2. 4-8 GB of space

3. Not too bulky so it'll be easy to bike or run with.

I guess is there anything like this that DOESN'T play video? If I could save money by not having that option I would be completely willing to do that because I wouldn't ever use it for anything besides Mp3's...

hey FF, your mp3 player interested me, can you arrange music into folders?

Look up the iRiver clix 2gen. It comes in 2,4,8gigs.
All the features you want+

nah about 6 gig would hold 2000 songs of the average size of 3.5-4.0 megabytes. if your 2 gig ipod holds 2000 songs the songs would be each 1 megabyte lol
