I think my routine needs help...

I want to say the advice I have gained here is invaluable. Thank you all! But I have another question. I have lost about 45 pounds now and in my ideal weight class for my height..My bmi is within a normal range, my body fat percentage is at the tail end of normal, and measurements are 36-28-36 with a nice hour glass...I jog 25-35 miles a (5-7x)week, eat decent(low cal, low carb, high protein), and do a total workout 3x week...But still not seeing the results I want..How can I really tone up those muscles? They are there I can feel em just not see them as much as I would like...Any thoughts on a routine that might yield better results???

My suggestions:

1. Write down everything you eat. Most people, myself included, tend to underestimate our calories consumed.

2. Change your workout. If you have been doing the same workout, your body may very well have adjusted. So, initially you might have burned 600 kcal/hour, now you are only burning 400 kcal/hour for the same routine. Change your weight training structure. Alternate running with cycling and swimming and do a triathlon in 3 months.

To help count your calories you could use this site. :)

And BMI is stupid so dont go by that. Im 5'9 160lbs and it says im close to being overweight. If anything i could stand to add some weight.

If you have access to a blackberry there is a great program on there called Pocket Trainer and it will customize your workout for you. It's functional exercises too which are challenging and shock your body. You can pick a 20, 40 or 60 min workout. It's awsome.
Good luck.

Hi, sjake
I assume from the fact you say you have a nice hour glass figure and give your stats that your not a guy, but as I don’t know what else you’ve done and what weight, stats etc you used to have I can’t really comment. If you post the workout that you’re doing 3 times a week I’ll have a look and suggest some changes if you like, but what I would say is that jogging 5-7 times a week what looks like 5 miles each time AND doing a workout 3 times a week is a lot. You need at least one day a week to recover so it could be that you’re over-training.
Your body might just need some rest so that it can tone up those muscles like you want, but because you’re not giving it the chance that’s not happening.

Well done for obviously being so motivated and working hard, but sometimes less is more and you might actually be working TOO hard.
I have many clients who are like this and it’s sometimes hard to convince them they need to do less when for months or even years all they’ve heard is, “You need to do more exercise!”

Post your workout.

David.

Here's a little something that I do and Im sure that it would help improve your health and fitness tone and body.
Here it is:

Dont slow down, just set your mind to it, move forward and in time you'll see yourself in a better shape. Personally, from my own experience, seeing myself toner only gives me more encouragement to keep moving forward.

With Best of Hope,
Rusty
