I think my new protein is giving me bad stomach pains

I bought a new protein a few days ago and I think it is the reason I've been getting bad stomach pains. I haven't been able to isolate the cause yet. Just wanted to ask here anyway.

The protein has micellar casein, milk protein isolate, why concentrate, whey isolate and BCAA's. It is one I asked at the supplement shop for night and slow release.

I just wanted to know if anyone has had a protein product give them stomach pains? Could it be the protein? If so, what is it?

Weel,
there is 5 options. (i think)

1. You need to change your protein shake. There is something in it that doesn't well with your system, or a combination of stuff that doesn't settle. I suggest switching to ON Gold Standard Whey.

2. Whatever your taking it with, is causing the pain. Switch what your adding it to.

3. Do you take it on an empty stomach? This could be the problem.

4. If your just starting this diet, it may be the optimal amount of protein, your body may not be used to it.

5. The easiest ans simplest problem. Drink it slower.

Sincerely,
Wilhelm

Can you drink milk? If so, you're not lactose intolerant, and that's usually what gives people stomach issues when they take a protein supp.

If you don't take it, do you not get pains?
When you take it, how quickly do you develop stomach pains? 20 mins? 60 mins? 4 hours?

How much protein per serving?

Milk. This is a funny one with me... for example, I can drink coffee with milk with no problems and sometimes milk by the glass with no prioblems but then other times milk by the glass will destroy my stomach. I've had other proteins in the past that didn't cause problems, this new one is a 'slow release' with casein. I wonder if casein is the problem?!

I feel abit like this at the moment :action14: I can't believe there is a smiley thing for this!!

I didn't have it yesterday and I'm not going to have it again to day to see what happens. I still have slight stomach discomfort at the moment, I don't know if it is left over feelings from the protein. You wouldn't think so, it shouldn't still be in the system after this long. Might be stomach issues regardless of the protein but brought on by the new protein drink.

The pain developes within probably about half hour and lasts... well as mentioned above for ages!

I have about 1 scoop (24g protein). Any news on whether having protein with food helps with digesting protein without the issues?

I'll take a pic of the tub's info and post it later.

edit:
Here is the pic. Look at the ingredients below the nutritional information

If regular milk can cause stomach discomfort, you probably do have at least a lactose sensitivity.
You might need to look for a 100% lactose free protein powder. They aren't too much more expensive.

which protein do u prefer? at what amount you take protein?
I think you should clarify with doctor and then try to use supplements.

Yep, have a nice big tub of protein supplement in the cupboard, basically only used 4 scoops out of it.
