I really need to lose weight.....but how much?

Hi all,

I am really new to all of this so I am quite dumb when it comes to all of the healthy eating and working out. I do get on my treadmill and do about 1 1/2 miles a day (5 days a week). But I dont know if this is helping. I guess I just really want to see results for my effort. I know that I am out of shape and really want to do something about it! I am 5'3 and weigh 142.

Hello! Welcome to the forum. I'm new here as well so I'm not going to try and give you advice when I'm still learning a lot of stuff myself. It is not so much a question of weight as one of body fat % and muscle mass. The scale is only one tool so it is wise not to over emphasise it.

Take a look at this page. It is the one I use to help me measure my BF%. . Also to help the people here help you, you will need to tell everyone a bit more about yourself. Gender, age, height, weight, etc. this will give a much more accurate picture of where you are and where you are seeking to go.
