I Quit Smoking, Will Start Cycling. HELP!

Hi!
It's been 35 days since I quit smoking.

I'm getting my bike fixed, in a few days I'll start cycling.

My aim is to improve my lung function, strength and overall health as much as possible.

I'm doing some light exercises at home since quitting, plus some fast paced walks by the seaside.

There are tons of information on how to exercise and I'm lost.

Please help me to start a program
, that includes basic exercises along with cycling.

I had a shortness of breath issue lately. I've seen a lung specialist, he found nothing serious but advised to quit smoking, as I had already quit anyway. My breathing imporved since I quit but sometimes I'm having shortness of breath, especially at nights.

I'm 32, male and slightly underweight by the way.

Congratulations on the effort to quit smoking. This will expand both your longevity but also your quality of life.

Cycling is a great activity to increase your aerobic capacity and start repairing the damage that a couple of decades of smoking caused. I would encourage you to find a group ride on weekends and ride with them at first. Your local bike shop (LBS) will know of local, organized rides.

Weight training is also beneficial.

Thanks a lot. I know a group of people cycling here but I prefer to ride alone.

I'd be interested in some basic guidelines to follow at start, or any resources I could read about some tips for beginners.
