I need to lose fat!

Hey, I'm 14 years old, 5'8 150 lbs. I want to lose about 20 lbs. I play basketball, so I want a six pack so badly! I don't know my body fat so this may be hard for all of you to help. I need help on starting my diet, and what to do to lose weight. It's very hard to eat 6 meals a day due to school. I don't really eat at school or I don't eat breakfast due to lack of time. Is there any way to lose fat without muscle easily without eating 6 meals a day?

There is no need to eat 6 meals a day. That's a diet myth that's been disproved for a while.

What you do need to do to lose body fat and keep the muscle structure for the 6-pack and "fit" look is this:

Eat a reasonable amount of calories (not too many and not too few - for you I'd suggest about 1500 calories a day).
Make sure you get about 1g of protein per pound of goal bodyweight (for you, around 130g).
Train using weights and bodyweight exercises 2x - 3x per week, and then do cardio on the off days.

There's a thread on the Exercise forum by Steve called "The Conceptual Side of Weight Lifting" - read it and it'll give you LOTS of good information on how to maintain muscle whlle losing fat.

It will also really help to have your bodyfat tested so you know where you stand. At the point you're at and the goals you have, I suspect it's far more about BF% than about weight.

Drink lots of water! Technically, we need about 7 glasses of water a day. Have a glass of water ready for your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Then have one once you wake up and another glass before you sleep. Also set a period where you'll have one: in between breakfast and lunch and one: in between lunch and dinner. Drinking water is essential in converting the fats in your body into energy thereby reducing the fat percentage.

I played basketball in HS. A big man as you can see by my weight tracker. What you should be focused on, is being able to sprint the floor & shuffle your feet to stay with your man. The longer you can do both of those at a high level, the longer the coach will keep you on the floor ! The six pack will come eventually, if you train hard enough. I myself am trying to work the fat off of my stomach :) Good luck dude.
