Please don't say its unhealthy I know it can be done & people have done it before in a healthy way & I just really need advice and tips.

WHAT I plan to do so far is eat no more or less then 1200 cals a day & workout high intensity(taebo, aerobic classes..etc) between an hour to an hour & a half everyday and do light weights 4X's a week (from the biggest loser workout book)

I went food shopping and got all healthy foods like chicken breast, tons of veggies and fruit, almonds, olive oil, eggs&egg whites, whole grain rolled oats, whole grain bread, skim milk, fat free greek yogurt..etc..

I will only be drinking water & green tea

I am 240, 5'6 female, 22 yrs old :(

I want to atleast be 200 or below by my moms anniversary party Oct 1st

THANKS!

I lost 45 pounds in about 4 and a half months with healthy diet and exercise (not a lot, maybe 2-3 times a week). So I think its completely possible but it takes a lot of effort. What I did was find out what by daily caloric maintenance level was and cut it by 500 calories. After about a month of that I cut it by another 500 and have been keeping it at about 1500 calories a day. I lose about 2 pounds a week. Personally, I think it helps to have a day every week or two to eat whatever you want, but dont go overboard.

Weight loss

Hi Tinkerbell

I have long experience in alternative medicine, and I have recently written a book on weight loss.

My input, for what it is worth, is that you can do four things:

1. Cut starch (potatoes, rice, bread, pasta) to a minimum ( preferably eliminate).
2. Eat more lean protein plus plenty of salads and vegetables
3. Spread your meals over more, smaller meals - eg 4 meals a day
4. For exericise - do interval training 3 time a week.

Interval training? The expert on this in my mind is Al Sears (Google him). Also called "High intensity aerobic exercise", interval training actually burns fat: whereas aerobic exercise clearly does not - if you check out the studies.

Also, interval training is quicker than aerobic. So, not only does aerobic take longer, is also doesn't work. LOL.

Of course, any exercise is good for general health: but if you want to lose weight you need high intensity aerobic exercise. What is this?

You really hammer it on any aerobic exercise for 30 seconds, then jog along at moderate level for 2 minutes, then another 30 seconds intensive effort. Repeat for 10 minutes. 3 times a week. This burns fat: regular aerobic does not.

Well, to be more precise, it does: but then you body puts the fat back on again because it thinks you need the fat stores to burn for future exericse. LOL

The proof is there if you look out the studies.

Interval training uses up your carb stores, then while you 'tick over', the carbs stores are replenished from your fat. So your fat slowly goes. I say slowly - but over 3 months that will be substantial.

Hope this helps.

:)

PS Of course, you should only introduce changes gradually - both as regards changing your diet and introducing a new type of exercise. Interval training - work up to it over a few weeks. Also, if you are unfit or are undergoing medical treatment, check with your health adviser first.

Tinkerbell,

This is very possible!!! I was 247lbs in 2007 and I needed to lose weight fast. My brother was coming home from Iraq and we were going to take a family Vacation to Vegas to celebrate his home coming. I worked with a girl who had a great figure and had told me that she didnt always look like that. She did the Atkins/South Beach diet. She gave me 2 cookbooks and some easy desserts to get me through the need for sweet. I started my Diet in May of 2007 and along with doing the induction phase of Atkins (I say atkins and south beach because the induction phase is the same 2 weeks no carbs no sugar) I started a bootcamp program at the YMCA. I was 163lbs when I went to Vegas. My brother didnt even recognize me, he said he had to do a double take. I felt so amazing. A lot of people will tell you that you need the carbs if your going to work out, or that Atkins is terrible for you becuase you eat only fats. This isnt true. I would eat a lot of salads with chicken (GREEK SALADS ARE MY FAVE!!) I did find that eating out was a lot easier than eating at home just because when I ordered my meal I could ask the server for extra veggies instead of a potato or not to bring bread. Most resturaunts will accomodate you if you are looking for a carb free meal. If you have the extra money to buy an Atkins or South beach phase 1 cookbook I really reccommend it! I always struggled with my weight and there is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING harder than losing weight but the the taste of a smaller size is better than any dessert that I ever put in my mouth.

Now, it is easy to gain weight back if you do not follow the "rules" to this diet. You can research most of the meal plans for free online - look up Atkins Diet phase one food list. This will help.

If your like me and love your sweets - I would buy sugar free jello and whipped cream (in the can) - no carbs or sugar in the jello and only 2g of carbs in the whipped cream. Also depending on how you do with texture - I would take Whole Milk Ricotta cheese (about 1/4 cup) and 1 packet of splenda, and your choice of flavor (extract) and mix to taste. I came up with some really creative flavors sometimes. It's a thick sweet dessert.

THE FIRST 5 DAYS MAKE YOU WANNA KILL SOMEONE BECAUSE YOUR BODY IS RIDDING ITSELF OF THE STORED SUGAR (WHICH YOU ARE ADDICTED TO AND NOT JUST THE REFINED - PASTA AND BREAD TOO) YOU WILL MORE THAN LIKELY LOSE 10-15LBS IN THE FIRST 2 WEEKS. I usually get to day 6 and have a 7-8lb drop. THIS KEEPS ME MOTIVATED.

YOU WILL FEEL AMAZING ONCE YOU GET OVER THE SUGAR ADDICTION - ACTUALLY YOU MAY FIND IT HARD TO SLEEP BECAUSE SUGAR TAKE SUCH A TOLL ON YOUR BODY. You will notice your cellulite starts to disappear even if you lose just a little bit of weight.
My dad explained Atkins diet the best to me - Your body is like a fire, eating carbs is like throwing a beer can on to the fire, it takes forever to burn, protiens are like dry wood chips, they burn up immediately. When your body doesnt get the carbs and sugar it starts to eat the stored fat - and thats when you start to lose weight - literally melt it off your body!

YOU CANNOT CHEAT ON THIS DIET OF YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER - YOU CANNOT DRINK ALCOHOL - REGARDLESS OF WHEN THE COMMERCIAL TELLS YOU ITS SUGAR AND CARB FREE - ALCOHOL TURNS INTO SUGAR IN YOUR BODY AND THATS HOW YOUR LIVER PROCESSS IT!

YOU CANNOT CHEAT ON THIS DIET - RESTARTING THE INDUCTION PHASE IS HARDER THE 2ND TIME AROUND TRUST ME!!!!

DO NOT CHEAT - DO THIS FOR 2 WEEKS AND YOU WILL DROP INSANELY!!

For Boot Camp, M,W,F We would run 1 mile, do about 100 crunches, 50 push-ups, mountain climbers, jumping-jacks. Then on Tu&Thur we would run for 1 hour straight. I really like what I learned from the boot camp class it taught me I dont need a fancy machine or a gym membership to get my body into shape. Your body weight is all the weight you need when your doing a push up - which became my favorite exercise because it works your entire core, and your arms and if you squeeze your butt and legs it works them too!

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU - I WAS OBESE (I HATE THAT WORD) I LOST THE WEIGHT, AND MY SELF ESTEEM IS THOUGH THE ROOF. I LOOK GREAT AND FEEL GREAT AND IT WAS THE HARDEST BUT MOST REWARDING THING I HAVE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF! XOXO

establish an exercise routine that you enjoy so that it can become a daily habit like brushing your teeth or shampooing your hair
