I need some help with my workout!

I have not ever consistently worked out...ever in my life until 7 months ago. I started working out doing an ultimate strength and cario class 2 times a wk. It is an hour long class with cardio intervals and total body strength training including abs. I really liked it at first but I have been doing it for 7 months and have not lost any weight, and now am getting bigger! I know I am gaining muscle and that is why my legs (especially thighs and butt) have gotten bigger, but I was hoping just to tone up and lose some weight.

I started running 5 miles once a wk a month ago in addition to the hour class two times a wk- but it has not helped at all!

Any suggestions? I am female, 32 yrs old, weigh 135 lbs, size 6 and am 5'7". I would like to lose 7-8 lbs total and would just like to comfortably fit into my clothes (my pants don't fit in the thighs or butt at all now!)

Any suggestions?

Losing weight is about controlling your food intake. You can exercise until you fall over, but if you're eating too much food, then you're not going to lose weight.

At your height and weight, which is perfectly healthy, you're going to have to be VERY strict about your food intake to lose any weight. You will have to restrict your calories to around 1300 a day and make sure that every calorie you're eating counts nutritionally. That means no junk, cutting back on processed and simple carbs, etc.

Eat protein, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, and complex carbs (whole grains, etc.).
