I am a mother of a 7 year old and a 3 month old. I was 135 before I started having kids and now I am 198. About a year before I had my second child I was 190 and I joined LA Weight Loss and I was down to 165 in about 3 months without exercise. So now I have just started working out after baby number 2. I am trying to work out twice a day 30min in the morning and 30 min at night. Now I know that some days I can only do the 30 min in the morning because I have to do other things at night with the kids. I am watching what I eat, and I wanted to do the South Beach diet starting next month. I am wondering am I doing enough? Is it good to exercise twice a day? I am doing cardio and strength training. When should I start seeing results? I have a friend who went from a size 10 to a size 6 in about 3 months becasue she worked out twice a day ( cardio and strength training) and she said she did it with out dieting. I just want to know am I on the right track. I always start something but never finish. I have been getting negative comments from my family about my weight. Everyone around me is nice and fit except me. I wish it would happen over night, but I know it takes time. Just about how much time???????????????

Hi!
Well, I have a three month old as well..and boy..know what THAT'S like!!:D
I would say you're on the right track...BUT I would also say its not always a good thing to compare someone else's weight loss to your own and vs. versa.
Everyone's body works differently and reacts to things differently. What worked for your friend might not work for you and vice versa. You also just had a baby.

As far as diets are concerned. I'm not a big fan to be honest, but that's just me. I believe in learning how to eat healthy so that it becomes something I can do for the rest of my life, unless it's a diet plan that I know I can do for the rest of my life, then I stay away from it. What I've seen time and time again, is that the weight comes back, sometimes years later, when people are following diets.

As for the workout routine. Yes, if you have the time, I'd say it's great to workout twice a day...but you can also just workout once and do it longer.
What type of workouts are you doing? Are you using a heartrate monitor?
A lot depends on what intensity you're doing those 30 min. workouts, if you're getting your heartrate up high enough...etc.
I'd say though, 30 min. of strength training might not be enough after a while.
You could do 60 min. of cardio one day and 60 min. of strength training the next for example.

Anyway, just my .02:)

Hello,
you mentioned you were on the LA wieght loss program. I am currently a member and have lost over 10 lbs. just curious as to what you thought of the program?

When you do cardio, make sure you break a sweat. You burn more calories by increasing the exercise level. Also, you want to vary your routine from time to time. If you stick to the same exercise routine, your body will learn to adapt and doesn't burn as many calories as you want. By varying your routine, you surprise and challenge your body more. Say you do 30 mins of walking 3 days a week and biking for 1 or 2 days.

Exercise goes a long way in sticking to a healthy lifestyle. Keep doing it and you will feel more energy. Don't worry about the pace of your weight loss. It varies from person to person. If you keep doing what you are doing, you will see good results soon.

Thanks for the feed back

Well thank you very much for the advice. Right now I am running on the treadmil for 30 min at about 4mph. I am done with the cardio workout I am soaking from sweat from head to toe. (I am really out of shape). The treadmil that I use doesnt have anything to track my heart rate. I will definetly try to workout longer. 45-60min of cardio and 30min of strength training.

About the LA Weight Loss program. I loved it. I lost weight fast. The only problem for me was trying to come up with ideas for the food choices, and it was also expensive. I actually still have weeks and bars on hold. I told them that I will probably return in about a month or so.
