I'm 6 feet 1 and I weight 220 lbs. I have flabby arms, and gut and starting to gain man boobs. THe only place that I don't have a lot of fat is my face and my legs. I've had my mind on trying to lose weight for a long time. I'm Bangladeshi, and genetically I think most people from this country are skinny. I was skinny when I was a kid. I'm 18, and I got fat during my middle school years. I've been overweight ever since. I work at Taco Bell currently so I guess it helps, although sometimes I eat the food if I stay long shifts so I guess that would set back any progress I would get from my labor. People tell me to get a membership at at health club, take the slim fast diet, but I don't like that. My diet usually consists of curry. Curry is a south Asian cuisine which is boiled white rice and toppings. Usually all the toppings are cooked in a lot of oil, no matter if it's meat or veges. A usual plate of this food can weight over a pound. Also I drink a lot of brown tea. Brown tea is made with sugar and milk, so I think that contributes to my weight. I really don't know what else to eat though. I've gotten so used to eating big curry meals and occasional snack foods that I don't why what diet to go on that's healthy and will make me cut weight also. Also I'm very lazy in the morning. If I don't work I usually sleep until it's 12. Today I woke up at 1:20 pm. I think I should wake up early get a good breakfast workout. But I can't get enough motivation. I've tried to follow a exercise routine but after seeing no kind of progress I've given up on most of them. Most days I sit in the house all day on my computer doing absolutely NOTHING. Sometimes I do some exercise but I really need to have a exercise plan and diet plan.

Does anyone have any advice who is in my weight and height range or knows what type of things I should be doing or eating? If I get a good enough weight loss plan I'll stick to it like my life depended on it but I really dont know what to do.

Oh that's an easy one! Eat the same things you're eating now, only less of them. Count how many calories you're consuming everyday, and cut that amount by a few hundred calories through either diet and/or exercise. No diet plan works better or worse than this. They all follow this principle.

Read the stickied threads around the forum - you'll get good nutrition advice and a plan on a workout...

No one can make you less lazy but your desire to be so...

I have had a lot of success with program. The workouts, based on bodyweight workouts and interval cardio, are quick but effective. Between eating natural foods, getting rid of soda & sugar and this exercise program, I knocked off 16 pounds in the 8 weeks I was doing it.

How much was the Belly Off program? Seems like a sign up type deal... interesting. Wasn't sure if there were hidden fee's or if it was free.

Belly Off is completely free. When I was done, I moved over to Turbulence Training which was developed by the same trainer and that cost me $40, but it was worth it.

I really can't say enough about Belly Off. It's an effective program that doesn't cost you a cent. Just sign up and download the materials, watch the videos and do it.

Let me know if you have any other questions on Belly Off, I'll be happy to help out.

Good luck & love the nic/avatar!

First, if you are not happy about the way your body looks or feels, you are the only one who can change it. I think you know that the only way to improve your body and your health is through eating right and exercising.
Your sleeping schedule alarms me because much of how we eat, exercise and live is set by our sleeping schedule. I would not recommend sleeping in until noon. You are a young man and there are other things you could find to do in the morning.
First, in terms of exercise, if you don't want to join a health club, you don't have to. You should find what you like to do and do that. For example, I really enjoy kayaking, and I do it three times a week. After you start some activity, you can look into doing more things such as weight training, etc.
As for the for the food--you should first decide how many calories you want to drink. I enjoy tea with milk and sugar as well, but it should be a splurge not an everyday thing. Drink water or crystal light or something but not anything with calories.
Second, you have to decide to change the way you eat. I too enjoy curry. I developed a taste for curry, etc. when I lived in India. However, your version of curry is the westernized version. I would suggest steamed veggies or broiled meat. Also brown rice.
I love to marinate chicken in nonfat yogurt and then drain off the marinade and grill the chicken. You can then make a curry sauce with curry and broth and it tastes really delicious.
But, I think you know that what you are doing isn't working and there is no quick fix just hard work.

As awful as it sounds you really need to count your calories. You will never know how much you are taking in unless you do so. There are some very useful and free web sites, fitday.com is one that can help. This site will help you keep count of calories in and out. As far as exercising the key is to find one you enjoy. Even if you do it just a little. As you get use to it I think you will find that you will crave the activity more and more and starting doing more and/or other activities. Eventually your mindset will change to one where you eat healthier and participate in more activities. On calories, try not to drop below 1200 per day, and it doesn't hurt to have a cheat day once a week where you indulge a little.

I'm the same height as you and I started my program at 207 lbs. I'm now about 190 after 3 months. I average about 1700 calories per day, I do resistance training 5 days per week for 45 min and cardio on a recumb bike for 30 min just about every day. Its not hard.

Not sure on the sleep cycle, but you regardless, you should try to get 8 hours per day. Too little sleep leads to stress and weight retention.

Thanks everyone for your help. I guess I have to be more motivated and really really take it serious. Also I like running because it's easy to do but I can only run for a short amount of time before I'm gasping for air. But I get what you guys are saying, I have to change my lifestyle.

You got it right...if you don't change your lifestyle, any success you have will be transient.

Make the change and the rest will fall into place...read around the forum, there is a lot of great information here...

The thing about cardio is that you don't need to run. There are other options, personally I like the elliptical and maybe you will too...

1. Invest in an ipod if you don't have one already, they will make cardio exercises a piece of cake.

2. With your diet, try to make 30% of your daily fat intake is saturated and no more than that. I know it's hard.

3. Have one day/week (prefer sundays) where you can pigout.
