I can do a power snatch, and I can do an overhead squat, but I can't do a full snatch. Got an answer to that one?

Hi there.

Just found your thread.

I recently started working out (I haven't done so since high school, which was about 5 years ago), and wanted to ask a few questions.

Right now, I just want to lose my extra weight and get fit and healthy. So, building muscle is not my main priority right now. The workout that I do every day is a slightly modified version of one I got from a trainer back in high school.

It includes:
Push ups
Crunches
Wall sits
and I walk (although I struggle to get around to it as much as I'd like)

My question is what other home exercises (I do not workout at the gym) there are that I could add to my routine workout, that would help me to lose weight.

Quick last question. Are there exercises with dumbbells that help with weight loss and not just muscle-building? I am not very clued-up about exercising and fitness.

Sorry for the long post, your reply need not be as extensive lol

Thank you... :)

Sorry for taking so long to reply,

@Goldfish... Have you tried doing the full snatch on a very light weight? You could try it on very low weights and try warming up and stretching before hand, what exactly happens when you try this exercise technique? If it's that you just get thrown off balance you need to work mostly on your core and your balance. Hope that helps.

@mordread... If you want to lose weight and body fat you really need to work on your cardio along with a healthy low carb low fat diet, crunches aren't good for losing weight or fat so take that from your routine, what I really recommend is that if you don't want to attend a gym or training centre, you need to be going outdoors and doing a lot of running and cycling and if you can get access to a swimming pool I also recommend swimming using the breast stroke and the front crawl techniques. To answer your dumbbell question, you can actually lose weight using just dumbbells but it will not be as effective as cardio workouts or exercises, if you want to lose weight using dumbbells what you would need to do is a lot of reps on a light weight. Hope I have answered all your questions with the information you was looking for.

Kind regards,
Bob
